am19psu
I was thinking about that too. It does seem awful deep. I have not looked at the steering flows based on strength.. i've heard both that stronger is more west and stronger is more east. Stronger earlier is more east. Stronger later won't make much difference.
North Balti Zen
i swear on one thing.. this place is predictable as hell. people -- even mets-- will deny an eastward move till it's over europe. Truth.
CheesyPoofs
This reminds me of 12/26/10 when the Euro was showing the weenie track for so long and the GFS was stubbornly a fish or SNE storm... Any references to 12/26/10 should be grounds for automatic banning. GFS time...if it shifts any further east, it would be hard not to think that the Euro is out to lunch. snowfan
If only we could get Joe B to say that 100+ mph winds and a 10 ft surge will ride up the bay. Then, we'd be in business.

CheesyPoofs
Sensational news alarmists...WBAL should be ashamed! I'm not some media basher by any means, but this type of stuff is perdictable/inevitable.If the NHC puts a circle with a "H" on it in/near the Bay on day 5, of course the media is going to play it up. Just be thankful there are "mays" and "coulds" in the headlines as opposed to something along the lines of "Irene to hit Chesapeake Bay this weekend." I guess I can't fault them for it, as I doubt the people making the headlines know anything about the fact that models are trending eastward or even what the models are, lol. All they see is the NHC 5 day track...

ThreeRedheads
Tom Kierein: Passing through Ocean City, Irene would be close enough affect the Washington metro area. Heavy rains and strong gusty winds can be expected. Tom Kierein says Irene is following a similar track to another storm that hit our area in 1999: Hurricane Floyd. When that storm blew through the region, the area was doused with over a foot of rain and over half a million residents were left without power. Wind gusts reached up to 70 miles per hour. This storm has the potential to cause some major disruptions for the reason, and residents should be prepared for possible power outages.

North Balti Zen
I just have to say, to all the fish rooting for this, I hope they are happy. There are real consequences to a fish-falling hurricane, fish lives affected. So tired of the some of the hurricane-rooting fish not thinking of that when they root for this kind of thing... Do we really need to clutter up this thread to talk about the morality of fish who root for storms? It's not like the fish have any control over where the storm goes .
