Jefflaw77
I am in Dix Hills, and based upon my view of the pool we definitely have over 4" of rain.. .In fact we must be pushing 5" right now... pretty crazy for less than 8 hours in... jeff
Guest Pamela
You missed October 2005-- was that 11"+ total a daily total? No, most of it fell over the course of 3 days...
Guest Pamela
The heaviest daily rainfall that I was able to find for JFK was 6.27 inches back on 6/30/84. So it looks like Kennedy will break its daily record...though in fairness...their climate record isn't that long...
A-L-E-X
Looks like two of those obs repeated rainfall totals from earlier obs-- I subtracted them and it comes out to 6.18 as of 9 AM
lindywx
Nearly 4" has fallen here and another batch of torrential rains has commenced. There is a whole lot of standing water out there as I just got back from getting my wife flowers for our 29th Anniversary. There's gonna be a nice swath of 6-8" of rain by the time this wraps up tomorrow, easily.
A-L-E-X
Another round of heavy rain headed up from Sandy Hook. JFK should be over 6" within the next hour and LGA well over 4". Yeah, I can hear the thunder already lol.

I know they got 2.83" in one hour this morning, most I've ever experienced in one hour (I also recorded 2.8" in one hour.)

A-L-E-X
That's a good question. BTW, do you keep rainfall records and if so how much did you record? I noticed that ABC was saying the heaviest rain was actually estimated to be from Staten Island to Lido Beach and just barely skimmed my area and JFK so it's possible you may have seen even more rain than we did here lol. And JM who was really pessimistic last night may have seen more rain than anyone else, which would be ironic.

Allsnow
3.00 inches here so far.....got a call from a customer at 6am that her backyard was flooding. While i just cut her grass, being a nice guy i went over to see if i could do anything. They ended up blocking a drain pipe when they had the backyard landscape by a diff company. No lie there is about 3ft of water covering the whole backyard......it seems like we are in for somthing memorable here today....pouring still in edison. Can you guess what else all those summers had in common? Jun 1984-- followed the scorching summer of 1983 Summer 1989-- followed the scorching summer of 1988 July 1996-- followed the scorching summer of 1995 August 2000-- followed the scorching summer of 1999 August 2011-- followed the scorching summer of 2010 2008 is the only year that doesnt fit the pattern, but you can add in August 1994 when we had that big noreaster, which followed the scorching summer of 1993. And you can add summer 1992 which was quite wet and followed the scorching summer of 1991.
