ag3
yeah but not northern/northwest jersey Agreed. They will get heavier rain later as well, but this is a NYC and east historical storm. Doesn't sound right, but it looks like a 6"-12"+ rainfall for NYC and east. Unbelievable amounts.
bates
Someone just posted a great video of a drive down a flooded Park Ave here in Long Beach. No offense but that video looks like any number of countless rainy days that everyone has seen.

So far that's the case but taking from that AFD out of UPTON it sure sounds like they expect a repeat of last night except a tad further west
A-L-E-X
2-4 more inches of rain for NYC seems likely, shouldn't cause too many problems besides the usuall street and poor drainage areas. Hopefully, we can get up to October 2005 levels-- how much did you get back then?
ag3
18z NAM has the coastal low taking shape and off of LI tomorrow morning. It keeps the heaviest rain east of NYC tomorrow. I think it's suspect, given position of the developing low.
Isotherm
3.41" so far in Monmouth. Loud thunder frequently from about 5am through 9am this morning, torrential rains continue. 68/67.

janetjanet998
what is the record for most rain to fall on LI for one event? Not in one location, I'm talking about if you add up the observations for the whole island and add/average them? Is there even such a stat? That model has shown very poor run to run consistency 6z gave NYC less than 2" and 12z had more than double models do a very poor job in these scenarios

Definitely has to be October 2005-- we had 15-18 inches Island wide over three days and a 22 inch total for the month.

If you want heavier rain, then maybe watch that vortmax coming out of WV..but this seems more like an NYC east thing.
earthlight
I think we'll see another firehose type set up later tonight between 00 and 06z. As janet posted from the OKX AFD...that's when another juxtaposition of good dynamics occurs. Tonight's should be farther east than last night's...and may be situated closer to the metro. We shall see.

ag3
Looks like the rain will take a break in a couple hours. Then we wait and see what the coastal does. NAM has the rain staying east of city overnight into tomorrow.
BlizzardWarning
The radar estimates are so unreliable. According to my rain guage, I have recieved over 5 inches of rain. My pool has overflowed twice today, which doesn't usually happen even in the wettest storms. Situation could be really bad tonight as the low takes shape off the Delmarva Coast. The highest I can find on WUNDERGROUND is Bellmore and the're approaching 9" with East Farmingdale a close second.
