IsentropicLift
Amazingly enough the heaviest rains have been just east of the major river systems in northern NJ. Right now the Passaic basin is holding this really well. Too bad another 2-3" widespread will be enought to cause significant flooding.
CoastalWx
Kind of a cool thing going on in western NJ and north of ABE. Might be a little orographics helping out with that rain too, along with some frontogenesis.

jm1220
The police closed Lido Blvd here due to extensive flooding and cars are parked up on the sidewalks around there because the streets are too flooded. Yeah, yeah, I was wrong. Big time wrong. The T-storms that went off here at 4:30AM or so sounded like nuclear bombs going off, and the rain's been crazy and nonstop since. The West End must be completely swamped-it always is in events like these. Already probably half a foot of rain here. My front yard is completely under water. jm1220
BTW, do you keep rainfall records and if so how much did you record? I noticed that ABC was saying the heaviest rain was actually estimated to be from Staten Island to Lido Beach and just barely skimmed my area and JFK so it's possible you may have seen even more rain than we did here lol. And JM who was really pessimistic last night may have seen more rain than anyone else, which would be ironic. The egg is splattered all over my face, Alex. I thought this would be a lot spottier and more convective in nature-and those usually benefit NJ. I thought possibly a July 2006 kind of storm. But we've just gotten destroyed for about the last 6-8 hours.

Euripides
With all this rain soaking into the ground, will any winds play a factor later on? It would not take much to start knocking them over since they all have a full coverage of leaves and a super soaked ground.
