yeah but not northern/northwest jersey

Agreed. They will get heavier rain later as well, but this is a NYC and east historical storm.

Doesn't sound right, but it looks like a 6"-12"+ rainfall for NYC and east.

Unbelievable amounts.

Someone just posted a great video of a drive down a flooded Park Ave here in Long Beach.

No offense but that video looks like any number of countless rainy days that everyone has seen.

So far that's the case but taking from that AFD out of UPTON it sure sounds like they expect a repeat of last night except a tad further west

2-4 more inches of rain for NYC seems likely, shouldn't cause too many problems besides the usuall street and poor drainage areas.

Hopefully, we can get up to October 2005 levels-- how much did you get back then?

18z NAM has the coastal low taking shape and off of LI tomorrow morning. It keeps the heaviest rain east of NYC tomorrow.

I think it's suspect, given position of the developing low.

That model has shown very poor run to run consistency 6z gave NYC less than 2" and 12z had more than double models do a very poor job in these scenarios

what is the record for most rain to fall on LI for one event? Not in one location, I'm talking about if you add up the observations for the whole island and add/average them? Is there even such a stat?

Definitely has to be October 2005-- we had 15-18 inches Island wide over three days and a 22 inch total for the month.

Every model hasn't been at its best, but I'm just not sure of prolific rains for areas outside of 287 and points north. If you want heavier rain, then maybe watch that vortmax coming out of WV..but this seems more like an NYC east thing.

They don't keep those kinds of stats.....though you are welcome to do the arithmetic....

Lido Beach @ 10.2 inches (according to TWC). I doubt the grass will turn brown again this summer (or fall or winter lol).

Bricks are falling of buildings here.

I wonder what the highest measured total an actual board member on here has. The highest I can find on WUNDERGROUND is Bellmore and the're approaching 9" with East Farmingdale a close second.
