dan88
Looking back at observations, not sure why this didn't get upgraded to a 35kt tropical storm with the previous advisory. http://www.ndbc.noaa.gov/station_page.php?station=sacv4 Station right off of the Mexico coast had sustain 34kt gusts 39kt at 8pm central in conjenction with Harvey. This station has the "Anemometer height: 9 m above site elevation", so it should be a valid wind reading.

thegreatdr
As it turns out, this season started just like the 2003 Northeast Pacific hurricane season, with 8 TS's to start the year before the I storms became hurricanes. lame-o-cane #8?
