I wouldn't be confident using any of these years as analogs with the record-breaking NAO ongoing right now. 88-89 was one of the strongest +NAO/+AO winters on record, certainly not applicable to the current era. Yeah, I mean you can splice numbers however which way and create a correlation to just about anything-- but that misses the big picture lol.
