This is the only F5 tornado ever to occur in the Chicago area and it's also the only F5 to occur during the month of August. janetjanet998 Posted October 1, 2011 Share Posted October 1, 2011 taken by Scott Weberpal two supercells that day ...we went after the north one...we chased and saw that same tornado....it lifted but then spun off funnels again just north of Macomb at dusk(also in that video)...chased that storm into knox county...then turned for home...only to get west of the old southern storm now dropping and F3 in south pekin and with cells merging into lines we slowed down as we took 474 south of Peoria with spotters reporting continuous jet noises in the area ....as the tonado moved NE into the north side of Morton we crawled up behind it on 74 with insulation and other light debris falling down....
