NorthShoreWx
Happy birthday Ed...I guess? Nope. My bros BD is in late November. That year it fell during the week, so the wearing of the funny hats was on a Saturday, which happened to be 12/2.

(Upton has a goose egg on the books for that month). Perhaps it was stuff still left on the ground from the 60 inches that had fallen in February & March that year... Perhaps it was stuff still left on the ground from the 60 inches that had fallen in February & March that year... Yes it did. Don't know how much in Syosset (probably 4 or 5"), but apparently Upton had a rare miss in the books that month. Here are some local coop snowfall totals for 11/30/1967: Bridgehampton - 3.7" Garden City - 4.5" Mineola - 4.0" Patchogue - 5.3" Riverhead - 3.3" Setauket - 3.0" FOK - 3.5" Heck, even Setauket bothered to report snowfall. Is there any chance who ever was measuring at Upton pushed the snowfall amount to 12/1? EDIT: The Upton summary that I have shows 3.8" for November 1967. The 2010 photo is in my neck of the woods and it is amazing for me to note that the Astroland Tower and the pedestrian footbridge the photographer is standing on no longer exist, just four years later after of lifespans of 49 and 57 years respectively. Near July 4 in 2013 the AT began to sway and was removed within days under emergency conditions. The West 8th pedestrian walkway from the station to the boardwalk suffered years of neglect and no agency wanted to save it. It underwent a scheduled demo and followed the AT into history just one month later.

"...A very underrated snowstorm" I completely agree. I then was 17 and working as a mail and messenger clerk for AT&T at 195 Broadway, my first job. That day my supervisor asked me to make two trips to 140 West St, then NY Tellephone, which made me walk into the teeth of a powerful wind field. One my second trip a man walking beside me was blown off his feet on Fulton St. as I had to hold on to railings along the way not to go down myself. It was bitterly cold with temps around 20 degrees if I remember correctly and going down into the teens. After the second trip my supervisor asked me to make a thrid trip and for the only time in my 45 years of work that followed I refused which could have led to my being fired. But what I remember most was late that night I was walking home from the F train, then on McDonald Ave in Brooklyn, and for the only time in my life I became aware that the cold and wind was becoming a threat to my safety. I was very happy to get home As you say, a very underated storm and one of the few true blizzards I have experienced.

CIK62
60/47 average. If the photo is 10/28/56 then that trolley line would be making the last run of any trolley in the city (or at least Brooklyn) in just 2 more days.
