Was returning (the hard way, with the 65th. St. Ferry---VZB was just two 700 ft. towers then) from a Boy Scout overniter in Camp Pouch, Staten Island. Driver of my car was a taxi cab driver by profession and he used his knowledge of side streets to get around the flooded area and back to Coney Island where we lived. Unc, your thinking to move to Florida one day? If so, your going to go into snow withdrawal and miss the Noreasters. Weather down here is kind of boring. Hot with thunderstorms in the summer and nice in the dry season. Once in a while some excitement to track a tropical storm or hurricane. I've been living here for six months and like to visit and walk around the Disney and Universal Parks.

A very cold winter followed, including some records towards the New Year lost in obscurity because they were eclipsed in late 1917.
