dsaur
Awesome 58.5 this morning here in Dahlonega. Closer and closer to finally being done with this summer. Lucky fellow! The only fallish signs down here are leaves falling from the parched trees. Hit 95.4 yesterday. The endless 90+ days look to continue until Oct. like last year. I had hopes that the la la land track for Irene would hold, and blast us with rain, and cool, but it isn't looking good now. Nothing to stop this relentless heat attack down here....except maybe the two more areas of storms in the Atlantic, or a big westward jog from Irene, lol. LithiaWx
Awesome 58.5 this morning here in Dahlonega. Closer and closer to finally being done with this summer. Only got down to 70 last night here in downtown Marietta. Felt like fall this morning with the dry air and the breeze, but 70 is not that great. I think I've just gotten used to mid 70's and high humidity in the mornings. It is getting really dry today DP down to 55, still dropping,

T I did manage to top 90 yesterday too so I was surprised I was able to cool off that much. You are in a hot part of the state and I feel for you. Yep...so much for any rain out of Irene but I fear this will be a destructive storm. Only got down to 70 last night here in downtown Marietta. Hard to believe but I'm sitting at 79.2 at 1pm under clear blue skies.
griteater
wow, I swear I just felt the house shake a little and it rumbled out for about 15-20 seconds....like a weak earthquake. I'll have to check the USGS for seismic activity...it's happened before around here, but I've never experienced it.

Local Yokel Wx
WCU and other parts of Jackson County are now reporting in with only small shakes lasting 10 - 30 sec depending upon location.

Gastonwxman
I could have had swore the quake was due to a large truck but nonetheless it was interesting. Almost makes you wonder if another mini-quake will come by. I find it quite creepy that this happened while we are watching Irene. Hurricanes and earthquakes...What's next? Acid rain? O but Acid Rain is already a current issue in our area. The smokies are highly affected by the acidic rain pumped into the air via the TVA. So yea Quakes, Canes, and now Acid Rain. 12/12/12 is certainly looking interesting.

This year (including December 2010) has gotten way out of hand regarding weather and nature events. We've had our first true White Christmas in several years, the worst tornado outbreak, tornadoes that have developed/tracked in places I never thought I (and a few others) would be close to, hail reaching sizes that some of us haven't seen in either several years or our whole lifetime, several 70mph or higher wind gusts events in severe thunderstorms, potentially one of the worst hurricanes to hit NC in a long while and now a very influential 5.9 earthquake. Unbelievable of what we are witnessing so far and it's not even fall or winter yet...

NCSNOW
Hit 58 IMBY this morning. Like yesterday it feels great outside. Fully expect the GFS to pull a west teaser trend today/tommorrow, before swinging back east with IRENE. Happens with every winter storm/situation 3-5 days out and quite frankly it will be a shame seeing how IMO the GFS really sniffed this out consistently form 10 days ago. dsaur
Another 95 today. Wish the long range goofy had been right and I was looking at a tropical storm headed up in a day or two. Need some cooling and rain bad...real bad. My buddy in Conn. is going to get both and he doesn't want it! Says he hasn't had a summer yet, and all it does is rain. Some folks just don't know when they have it good, lol. T
Snowless in Carrollton
This heat and dry weather is just brutal. Feel like a blowtorch with the wind blowing. I've had .15" of rain the last 19 days. Fall can't come soon enough. Update on Atlanta's heat : Today is the 80th day of 90+ this year in Atlanta. 5 day away from tying last year for 2nd most all time, and 11 away from breaking the record of 90+ days set in 1980. Isopycnic
some good storms out NW this eve heading this way but they will most likely disapate. ... Well, my dear, the last goofy had two tropical systems coming up through here in the late days of la la, so there is still a chance for us I'm hoping you can catch some feeder bands as the storm goes by you! If nothing else maybe you can feel some stiff breezes blowing the 90's at you, lol. Tony

Tony not going to hold my breath on the tropical systems at this point, look what happened this week we really need a change in the pattern - its been awfully boring lately. not to mention its gotten hot again (so much for the forecast earlier this week keeping mby out of the 90s lol)
