MTBLANC
'tis the season...i saw a few pages back that you are losing about 5mins of daylight, each day...here, in the lower 48, latitude 42N- last night the sunset for the final time after 7pm...until next March...sunset tonight was 6:58pm... Now, sunshine is 7:25, sunset 8:29. Yesterday, it was like summer time up here with high of 18.6C. In the territory we got between 21 and 22 in Dawson, Mayo and Carmacks all located north than I. Today should be a transition one with risk of showers, even if now we have 8.6C and clear sky. For the upcoming days, back to sunny conditions in a cooler air. What you wrote for Barrow is amazing. Even here we only got 54 days between our last and first frost (My link). Have a great day !

Here in Anchorage we are losing 5 minutes 39 seconds per day. That adds up fast, it actually feels "normal," in a midwestern sense that is. MTBLANC
Good evening! Today was a transition day with mild temperatures (8.3/14.6) and a mosty cloudy sky. Tomorrow should be better with the return od sunny conditions and cooler temperatures. I may expect some cold visiting us by the end of the month, GFS model forecasts it since a bit. For your information, I have installed a second webcam facing south, the other one with mountain views is still facing north. Have a great evening ! MTBLANC
Good morning everybody, Sorry for the GFS map, I forgot to save it, and it does not show anymore what I wanted ! We have -1.8C this morning here, the wind stopped blowing and it is clear outside. In the territory, temperatures between -3 and +11 with mild temperatures in central Yukon. We should have sunny days with highs of 11/13C in upcoming days. Now, I will go for a run with the dogs. Have a great day !
NIUmetGF
I went on a glacier cruise at the end of last month and happened to go on one of the best days of late summer (the benefits of being a meteorologist I guess). MTBLANC
Good morning everybody, Not so cold this morning as the days before with low of 0.4C. I just want to share with you this morning an outlook of the upcoming winter here in south Yukon: it should be colder and drier than the normals: ECMWF: Environment Canada (Oct-Dec 2011): NCEP: It looks like that my neighbors from Alaska will also get a freezing cold winter ! Have a good day
patrick7032
That second pic is stunning, is that the top elevation on Cold Bay? That second pic is Frosty Mtn. which is a dormant volcano standing 6600' tall. The base is 5 miles southwest of me and the peak is 9 miles southwest of me. As you can see it has a glacier on it. This pic was taken from one of the roads just outside of town where it is about 2 miles closer to the mountain.
patrick7032
Beautiful Patrick, I never saw the first animals, what is it? I also notice that fall colours are not here yet. Today, low of -3.3C, high of +18.8C, a difference of 22.1C, with sun and some wind blowing from south. Forecast for following days: mix of sun and clouds, cooler temperatures, some rain possible on wednesday. Have a great evening Those first animals are baby foxes. NIUmetGF
A couple pics from my hike today. Even though the deciduous trees are mainly turning only yellow around town, the lower mossy foliage has plenty of color to go around.
NIUmetGF
170-180kt East Asian jet punching into the long wave trough gonna make for an interesting situation end of week. Euro doesn't keep the jet quite as strong as it rounds the base of the trough, or show the upper jet coupling that the GFS does. Either way should be a decent system. GFS bombs it out as the jet nose interacts.
