lwg8tr0514
Edit: you were talking December...oops But the real comparison is number of times a storm has been modeled at 20" 6 days out. That number is in the hundreds, so we got a long way to go. Agreed, even me Ever Optimist Snow Weenie does not get excited anymore unless we are within 48 hours. These GFS fantasy storms never seem to pan out, they always start out as 22" of snow , but wind up being 4" following cold rain. Kind of like that hot blonde walking across the bar, at 30 yards and you having ingested 11 beers she looks like Pam Anderson but as she approaches she looks like one of your Mom's friends with a cigarette hanging out of her mouth and face like a catchers mitt. Paweatherguy1
Steelers got screwed at the end. Sanders had a td but was held and no call. At the least should have been first and goal...add that to about 4 or 5 other non interfernce calls and it went a long way to stalling out a couple drives. Living in Bethel Park, we can't even manage to get the "Mom's friend with a cigarette hanging out and face like a catcher's mitt" most of the time! There were 2 other pass interference NON-calls in the first half...disgusting...and why does Arians have Moore out there on our own goal line - then calling a DELAYED handoff in the damn endzone???....explain that to me.. I will bet you will never see a delayed handoff that deep in our own zone ever again. That was ridiculous! Special teams did us in again. It seems like every game we lose anymore it has a special teams breakdown. A kickoff return for a touchdown and their punter pinning us inside the 10 time and time again while we give them the ball on the twenty on touchbacks. On to the weather.. What a cold month this has been. Anyone have any data to see the average temp this month and where we rank so far?

I don't want to see a wild card berth. They need that bye week, this year more than ever, with all of the injuries. That'll give Troy an extra week too, since he's apparently going to be out the rest of the season but may be back for the playoffs. Heath will hopefully be back next week. Don't forget maybe Aaron Smith too. I notice some more snow showers have popped up on radar. We may be in for another dusting to 1/2 inch overnight. northpittweather
Just saying i haven't been paying attention to the weather in the last several days, then i look at the models and forums I see people talking about this storm for after christmas, i think it's a good possibility, and a extreme weather patten is coming, this isn't a normal La Nina also with models, i think the models were just going through a adjustment cycle, because the start of winter was going on

north pgh
Gfs is very south...basically nothing up here... We'll see what happens. There will be lot's of changes all week. I would be happy with a 2-4 inch snow for Christmas. Plus..I have some local traveling to do and heavy snow would ruin a lot of plans. Don't get me wrong, I want a Christmas snow however I don't want to be snowed in.

HOLIDAY TRAVELERS SHOULD ESPECIALLY MONITOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF THAT SYSTEM THIS WEEK AND BE PREPARED TO ALTER ITINERARIES. Well looking at the models this AM, if the storm was now we would be looking at a nice hit, not 20" nice, that looks reserved for some parts of the Southern Mid Atl and I-95. But we know how fickle the Weather Gods are, what are the chances that Richmond Virgina gets a 14" snowstorm at Christmas? probably close to nil, so the models are most likely wrong 6 days out. Common sense and history will probably take the soaring hopes of the DC\NC|VA weenies and crush them. I almost enjoy the Hari Kari they do in the model threads when another fantasy storm evaporates. On the other hand, if we are to get the bulls eye ill take that too because you never know how long it could be til the next big one around here. RitualOfTheTrout
.LONG TERM /THURSDAY NIGHT THROUGH SUNDAY/... STRONGER LOW IS FORECAST TO TRACK FROM THE MID MS VALLEY TO THE CAROLINA COAST BY CHRISTMAS DAY. LATEST GFS AND ECMWF SOLUTIONS AGAIN ARE INDICATING A CUTOFF MID LEVEL LOW PASSING OVER, AND IMMEDIATELY SOUTH OF THE UPPER OHIO VALLEY. SUCH STRUCTURE AND TRACK ARE FAVORABLE FOR SIGNIFICANT SNOW ACCUMULATIONS. FOR NOW, WITH THE RECENT MODEL AGREEMENT AND RUN TO RUN CONTINUITY OVER THE PAST COUPLE OF DAYS, WILL MAKE MENTION IN THE HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK OF ACCUMULATING SNOW POTENTIAL GIVEN THE COMING TRAVEL ESCALATION, AND WILL CONTINUE THE HIGH END CHANCE POPS FOR FRIDAY NIGHT THROUGH CHRISTMAS NIGHT FOLLOWED BY RESIDUAL SCATTERED SNOW SHOWERS ON SUNDAY. LONG TERM TEMPERATURE PROG WILL REMAIN 5 TO 10 DEGREES BELOW NORMAL. Looks like Santa may want to get Rudolph warmed up to guide the sleigh this year. Well we will see by Thursday \Friday if it's Rock and Roll time, but definitely something to track. Unfortunately, I think the HPC has basically said that the northern track is rather unlikely now, and the 12z EURO misses us totally....I think we are toast on this one...models are at the point where they will start to lock in now, and it looks like it will be south of us.... I'm starting to think that this is going to be a real garbage winter.

Lets see what happens on tomorrows 12z runs, if between now and then this southern track holds then its probably time to let this one go.
