My area for snow totals

Major Snowfall Totals in Blue are 9+ inches of snow

Significant Totals in Red are 4-8 inches of snow

Minor Totals in Green are T-3 inches of snow

Ridges of Westmoreland, Cambria, and Somerset are getting clobbered.. How you figure minor accumulations?

I think I'm getting semi shafted as that band is about 5 miles north of me! Got about 3" total

Also, it may be interesting to see the NWS total. They were around 4" earlier, and it looks like a band has been parked in western Allegheny for some time

I was in the same boat... The band over pittsburgh and just north setup literally a half mile away from me. Was in and out of it, but still got a fresh inch and a half. Have close to 4 total, which I will take for a les event. I think though there are going to be some unusually high totals in norther allegheny and southern butler. Would not be surprised to see someone have 10 inches somewher in butler....heck, they had 4 inches at the airport, and may have near 6 now which is almost unheard of for a les event here.

heck, i got 8 inches of snow here in Gibsonia on Route 8, some it drifting, and i can see areas getting a foot of snow, that band is couple reform pretty soon, it goes through stages, weakens one point then strengthens again, northern allegheny county and southern butler will have 8-12 inch totals, maybe some 15 or 16 inch totals

also, just watched WPXI, Julia Bologna says 1-3 inch totals, :arrowhead::gun_bandana:, she sucks at weather forecasting, she should be gone for real, after calling 3-6 and we get 2 feet last winter

congrats on the snow....but you are way over-estimating the coverage of the heavier bands. Also, don't forget about the upsloaping in Fayette and Somerset counties. "Average" accumulations over a widespread area will be greater down there.

No one in Allegheny county is seeing 15" or 16" out of this...The highest total on the last P.I.S. was about 4". There should be an update soon, but I'm not ready to believe that there is a widespread 8" to 10" type snowfall in Northern Allegheny county. Drifts are not snow totals

Ok, then, i think someone in the region will see that, a widespread 8 to 10 inch snowfall is a good bet, i got 8 inches already outside

All i just have to say is this is one of the Best LES events i've seen

Since the LES is most likely going to start slowing down tomorrow, I've started looking ahead at the next two potential systems and neither seems to be trending well for us (if you like snow) at this point. The clipper late in the week looks like it's going to miss us to our south. That one has been trending more and more south with each run and we were barely on the northern fringe to begin with. The 2nd system, which is the potential late weekend storm, has been trending further east and well out to sea. It would have to make a major shift back to the west for us to even have a shot of getting anything decent out of it. But, there is still a lot of time before that one, so who knows. Just stating how things seem to look at this point.

Up by Laurel Ridge.. Off Ross Moutain Park Road.

Oh wow, your good to go for this lake effect event haha. Would love to be at your location or snowboarding at 7 Springs right about now. :snowman:

That Huron connected band continues to plug away at Lawrence, southern half of Butler, and northeastern Allegheny counties in particular. Westmoreland seems to be seeing more light to moderate snowfall as per PBZ radar. And of course the favored locations of the Laurels in the warning zone are seeing this lake plume getting enhanced by the upsloping over the ridges...something that the PBZ and CTP radars usually don't catch on the edge of their ranges. Could be some wild totals coming from those locations as well as some isolated areas that have been in the path of this primary band north of Pittsburgh. Farmington in Fayette County appears to be the current winners of the latest pns statement from NWS Pittsburgh... with an overall storm total of 10.3 inches as of 9:12pm.

Had a look at the 0z WRF simulated reflectivity and it keeps this snowband relatively stationary through a good bit of tomorrow before eventually the flow backs and the band shifts to areas further north and east.
