They hit 90! The record has been broken.

Quote: "nwsind-hmt: All: We hit 90 degrees at 5:08 PM at Indy International. A break developed in the cloud deck and brought us up from 88 to 90 within a few minutes. We sat at 90 for 4 minutes before dropping back. Currently at 5:15 we are 89."

90º ended up being the high. 4 very crucial minutes apparently.

Anyways, tomorrow and Sunday look like locks to reach 90. Monday, eh don't know. But one would think it ends sometime early next week. Though it is IND...won't go down without a fight...

I think tomorrow is going to be close again due to cloud cover. Sunday is a lock. I predict Monday won't even be close. If you can slide by tomorrow, I think your 22 prediction is a winner.

Have to say I like it too. Totally random guess, but hey it may be right.

Amazing though that on an otherwise overcast day down there today, the skies lighten up for a brief period to get the bounce to 90º.

Yeah, I'd call 4 minutes kinda weak. Impressive accomplishment nonetheless.

They still have to beat LAF's 23 straight days (July 9-31, 1983) to be crowned kings of central Indiana. :guitar:

Next 1936 heat streak to try to beat one day is the 100 degree streak, although that might as well be Cy Young's win total.

Yeah I'd say so.

For the LAF area, it's 13 at the WL COOP. In modern times at LAF, it's 4 (July 20-23, 1983).

Looks like 93º for the high today.

Latest point and click for the airport for tomorrow...

Monday: A 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 2pm. Areas of fog before 8am. Otherwise, partly sunny, with a high near 89. Light west northwest wind.

Also IND finally picked up some rain in the last hour...0.26" total. Much needed.
