NYsnowlover
The new Long Range guy at Accuwx has his forecast out, basically anyone who post here east of the Mississippi is well into the above average snow zone. LOL, and the heaviest will be over state College for HM!!!
wisconsinwx
I've been waiting for cromartie's winter prediction. I assume it will go something like this... Analog years: 1877-78, 1931-32, 1997-98, 2001-02 He's just so depressed no one (or very few) experts are going above average for temps he probably figures "Why even bother?" kab2791
In his blog/video he even goes on to state much above normal snowfall for places like Chicago, Indianapolis, Detroit, Cinci, and Cleveland. Just a question, has he made a single forecast that has verified since he was on Accuweather? His summer forecast was his biggest bust!! "A year without a summer" in the upper midwest!! It's hard not to be at least a little optimistic with the majority (if not all) forecasts going with cold/snowy for the area.

That's what I was going to say. I'd trust Accuweather a lot more when what they say is close to the consensus vs. when they are on an island of their own (even though sometimes breaching consensus ends up being prudent). JoMo
The general has ice, but if you look at the Southern Plains graphic, you are on the border of snow and ice. Yeah I looked up the analog years. They vary pretty wildly, the one that was weighted twice was really really boring. However the 2nd one was the year of the ice storms. The rest varied wildly from being well above normal, to well below normal in terms of temps. And slightly below to slightly above in precip. Typically the cold fronts get hung up in the Ozarks, which puts Joplin in either the transition zone with ice and the snow about 30 miles farther north, or we get rain and drizzle with the snow farther north. Thundersnow12
from the Accuweather outlook.. "Chicago, which endured a monster blizzard last winter, could be one of the hardest-hit cities in terms of both snow and cold in the winter ahead." "AccuWeather.com Long-Range Meteorologist Josh Nagelberg even went so far as to say, "People in Chicago are going to want to move after this winter." "In terms of both snow and cold, this winter is expected to be the worst in Chicago.

Thundersnow12
They even did a story on Accuweather's winter outlook on the Channel 7 news here...interviewing people on if they are ready or not and selling that Chicago is going to have the worst winter in the nation....I just had to laugh lol.
