Training cells overhead. Hopefully this remains slightly progressive or a major urban flood threat is about to develop

Just pouring fat drops with a heavy times thunderstorm.

Not a lot upstream right now. This probably won't be quite like last night.

ORD picked up 0.50" last hour, with 0.62" thus far tonight.

If the latest run of the HRRR is correct, the next cluster will be the last for the night.

July total at ORD up to 10.42", currently 8th wettest month on record but will be moving up.

Wow cant believe Chicago has that many months in the double digits! Detroits wettest month on record is 8.76" from WAY back in July 1878. Just 5 months (chronologically July 1878, June 1892, May 1943, Aug 1926, and May 2004) have eclipsed 8" officially. (thru 8am DTW was at 7.63" for July 2011, but imby I was at 8.76" and still raining, so I will end up with a wetter month than Detroit has ever officially recorded).

Through 8am, we were at 0.79" imby with this overnight round and still raining. Other totals through 8am were 0.90" at DTW and 0.93" at Flint. Soooo this brings the July 27-29 total rainfall (thru 8am) to 5.98" at Flint (done raining), 4.41" at Detroit (still raining) and 3.99" imby (still raining). Some places near Ann Arbor will likely end up near 8" for the 3-day period.
