A mouse told me they took off, returned to base and took off again about 20 Minutes ago.

Someone forgot to stop at 7-Eleven and pick up some Slim Jims and Slurpees before the flight.

As far as the path of this thing, I can see scenarios where any part of the Texas coast could be hit. At least Storm Surge shouldn't be a major issue.

Not much to add. The models forecasts certainly don't show much shear. Given the satellite representation and the light westerlies over yucatan, I'd be surprised if the system isn't upgraded this afternoon to either a depression or storm. The forecast track towards TX would be a good thing as the rain sure would help and this does not look like the kind of system that is likely to ramp up to more than a strong TS or weak hurricane. Steve, You did get me to post in a tropical thread though I have little to add.

Storm2k is fairly informative and very professional. If anything, the tropical threads on this board are full of "one liners" and useless crap.

Unless NHC folks actually post there themselves, then no, posting about what they are thinking of doing is not informative nor professional because no one knows. Maybe they will upgrade. Maybe they won't.

Just found out I'm going to be flying into this tomorrow. cool.gif

I'll never insult your heat wave threads again.

Flying into a possible storm in an almost 40 year old Orion, I salute you. Even the Navy is retiring its Orions for 737 based P-8 Poseidons.

It's going to be a minimal TS. It's not like he's making a flight into hurricane Janet or something.
