HoarfrostHubb
High temp today was 77.1 with a dewpoint high of 72. Sun never fully made an appearance today - lots of low clouds and gusty sw winds. Not a good beach day - besides the lack of sun and warmth - the gusty winds made for very rough surf with strong rip currents. High temp so far this year has been 89.7 back on July 12th. Fully expecting to jump on the heat bandwagon tomorrow - big time! Until then - the a/c is off and the fan is in the closet. Jamestown was not too hot either. Low 80s with high humidity
DeVries
BAF hit 101F...lol edit...already beaten to the punch. While it's a bogus 101 (doesn't make sense given the temperature progression at the time), barring some serious cloudage BAF should top that number tomorrow and erase it from our memories. Typhoon Tip
Did anyone else notice the 18z GFS MOS go 100 at Fitchburg and 99 at Bedford for tomorrow, and in the upper 90s for both locations on Saturday??!! gulp - that's a tick up I'd say. Not sure what the reticence is on the part of our AFD folks - they're down playing this and it is palpable at this point. I don't think that is very wise. They're forecasting 99 in some of these advisory areas, with an HI of 102 - well, that would require a DP of 58 for tomorrow. Granted some drying is modeled but huh? That doesn't seem meteorologically sound or reasonable. It was obvious we made warning criteria today and it wasn't appreciated seeing that late update stating Advisory was supported. Not that we need their input anyway -
Typhoon Tip
Was there any brown out assessments today - interested in the grid reports. Ayer had a 2 hour outage today but I have no idea what that cause was. My office flickered twice down in Westborough - both locales were in that 97F hour when that happened. I heard some utility spokedude (Nstar??? National Grid??? some consortium?) on WBZ this evening saying there should not be any major issues with capacity/the grid An occasional transformer might blow or something like that... powderfreak
Still 85 w/ the dew up to 76. Brutal night ahead for those without A/C. I'm going to pass on running outside tonight. Yeah, this is about as uncomfortable as I can remember being up here. I do pity those folks in the Champlain Valley (BTV area especially) as funneling south winds kept temperatures up in the mid 70s all last night with dews near 70F. That's just nasty for NNE. At least here in the mountain valleys we cooled off about 10F lower down into the mid 60s. Tonight we'll be in the 60s again when BTV struggles to drop below 80F. In Stowe we tend to at least cool off at night as we are the lowest elevation around at 800ft, surrounded by 3,000-4,000ft ridgelines. Its nice to have 800-1,200ft elevations being considered "valley locations" here in Lamoille County as opposed to other areas where those are hill tops. We radiate nicely because of that, but likewise tend to warm up a bit more during the day than other areas at equal elevation.... large diurnal temperature ranges. Lows last night around here: BTV... 75F MVL... 65F MPV... 66F

Yeah there have been short power outages throughout the day across the region, but nothing large scale or sustained. powderfreak
From BTV at 9PM... 81F dew point at KPTD in northern NY!! I'll agree with BTV, impressively hot and humid up here in the North Country. CONTINUATION OF HAZY AND HUMID CONDITIONS OVERNIGHT. THE HIGHEST DEWPOINTS REMAIN IN ST. LAWRENCE COUNTY...WITH DEWPOINTS OF 78-79F AND EVEN AN 81F DEWPOINT AT POTSDAM AIRPORT /KPTD/. JUST AN AMAZING DAY WITH HEAT INDEX VALUES PEAKING BETWEEN 105-110F IN SOME SPOTS INCLUDING BTV/PBG/MSS. A RECORD DAILY HIGH TEMPERATURE OF 97F WAS SET AT BTV AT 342PM EDT...BEATING THE OLD RECORD OF 94F SET BACK IN 1994. COMBINED WITH THE RARELY SEEN DEWPOINTS...IT WAS IMPRESSIVELY HOT AND HUMID ACROSS THE NORTH COUNTRY. NO CHANGE IN AIR MASS OVERNIGHT. DEWPOINTS REMAIN IN THE 70S OVERNIGHT WITH LOW TEMPS IN THE 70S...EXCEPT A FEW MID- UPR 60S FOR THE NRN ADIRONDACKS AND FAR NERN VT. THIS WILL KEEP OVERNIGHT MIN TEMPS IN THE 70S.
weathafella
Will this be as bad as Hot Saturday for some folks? That day it was 103F in Boston, 100 at ACK, 107 BED even though the record is listed as New Bedford. I think there was an unofficial 110 in Cambridge that day. I had no a/c and spent the night with my very hot and horny gf. You can fill in the rest for a pair of folks in their late 20s.

Still 80.0 here out in the hills I think surface dews will come down quite a bit tomorrow nw of I95. Euro was showing something like a38 % RH @bos. In terms of temps...probably several degrees warmer tomorrow on average...but not the widespread 70 to 75 td readings we saw today. No doubt it'll be brutal...but we've certainly been in this territory before.

snowNH
Life is better now that you are no longer 5 posted... cheer up I'd honestly rather take the 96/69 that I had today over this crap.... Zucker mentioned he was at like 96/79 today.. that musta been brutal with sun... OT... The players recieved a deal and said that they were surprised by it... LOL... What a joke this is. They shouldn't be surprised by ANYTHING... thats why negotiations went on for FOUR EFFING MONTHS! The owners wouldn't present surprises lol... I really wish the NFL wasn't as big as it is, cause this back and forth babying by the players would never happen... Unions suck just a little rant cause I watched NFL network from 5 til now.
