Not buying that 101, but it is what it is. They had a similar intrahour heat explosion back in '08 I believe where they reported 102.

Well it's 101 here right now and still going up :P One degree away from last year's hottest!

it's bad up here...but check out the obs coming in from around BWI area. insane.

BWI is 102/77 with HI of 119. I hope kev is enjoying it cuz i sure as hell dont want that up here. Just imagine how it is on the streets in the city with the buildings holding in all that heat. Ugggharrowheadsmiley.png

yeah the obs coming in from NYC southward are unreal.

Im actually sitting ten degrees warmer than Tucson, AZ right now believe it or not although its not quite eleven there but their forecast high is 98 today which seems a little cool for this time of year. Is this the long talked about "sonoran release"? The heat gets shoved up toward the NE part of country and they cool off out west?

i'm sure tippy could chime in with his $.03 on the matter...but i don't know that this airmass truly has it's origins over the plateau region out of the SW. it's really a piece of the major heat that's been broiling the plains and midwest for weeks. the ridge flattened and kind of shunted northeast a bit - like squeezing one end of a balloon so-to-speak - and a piece of that extreme heat ejected from the plains.
