thumbsupsmileyanim.gif Congrats man! Good health to the little one and the Mrs.

Thanks Scott, I know you think you're not going to get tricked but you will.lol

Congrats on the baby girl Lion King. Now you're just like me..3 women in the house. The only difference in your house...you have the longest hair :arrowhead:

Thanks Kevin, you're right I'm completely outnumbered now. I might have the longest hair but they all have the good looks.lol

Sweet dude!

The world needs more rippin' skier chicks ;)

Thanks Scott, started my 1st daughter on skis at 3 , it's cool to have all the equipment already. Of course I'll warn her about sweet talkin' ski bums like you.

Only 16 more years before Ray sends her a suggesting PM.

As if I didn't have enough anxiety already. I've made it to 46 with no grey hair but you guys are going to turn me white.lol

MRG!!! Congrats, that's awesome! hope you post pics soon :) turn her into a weather weenie!!!

Thanks Diane, she will be a weather freak I'm sure.

Congrats Pete, quite the blessing!

Joe!! I always see your name at the bottom of the screen but you rarely post. Glad to get you on the board. Thanks!!

Sweet. For as much as I love bridgton, I find myself drawn to the whites. Offers far more activities for my liking.

it's a great area. been to loon dozens of times (got married on the summit actually) but this past weekend was the first time i had ever actually walked down into the caves.

did you stay in the lincoln/woodstock area?

even though it is clearly still summer up that way too...i felt this sense they are not far away from autumn already.

going from 1 to 2 kids is/was challenging...but you get used to it eventually. we are 7-8 months into having 2 and we are just now settling in to some semblance of sanity.

Yes, I'm already seeing there will be challenges.lol Still it is more gratifying to be a Dad than I ever thought it would be. I thought I would never have kids and I would be a bachelor forever. I used to look at my friends with kids and think "Poor bastards". While I do sometimes miss the freedom to just pick up and take off for some far flung mountain range on a whim I feel like I've traded up to a more meaningful existence or at least a less selfish one.

Post of the year?

Who are you to make such an assertion? If its 12 days away tell them it's kinda hard to speculate how the weather is going to be besides the general pattern. Rather then be unwelcoming to someone with only ten posts. I could see if its a chronic thing that happens all the time then yeah give them post of the year awards.

Anyways congratulations Pete, being a father is awesome huh? Had a daughter last July 16th. Nothing like the first time you see your child, however maybe the only thing even better is seeing them after their first bath.

LOL, it always feels close to Autumn there. I never did all those activities at Loon, but will have to try that next time.

LOL - true story.

yeah it was just funny how much the temperature labored to get through the 60s and 70s and you could see some stressed birch trees here and there had a couple of yellow leaves - just made it seem later than the last weekend of July. when we drove through the notch we ran into some upslope clouds/drizzle and the car thermo dropped to 63F.

Thanks guys. It's really cool, but very tiring. People go on and on about how hard it is for the mother to give birth but they never talk about how tough it is on the dad. First of all you have to deal with an emotional hormone laden mom for month after month. Then when you get to the hospital you have to sit there and read magazine after magazine. You have to stomach hospital food (if you're lucky). How about pacing? Nobody ever talks about that do they? Very difficult. If being patient, reading magazines and having to deal with the physical trauma of pacing wasn't enough, when the actual labor starts you have to sit there and hold hands and give words of encouragement. Meanwhile, the mother just has to lay there and be waited on hand and foot. Given these terrifying aspects of childbirth it's really a wonder we've survived as a species. I guess that because we men are so easily tricked by women into having sex mankind has endured. Some day, perhaps, when the world evolves into a more egalitarian place, men will finally be given credit for the amazing role we play.

Congrats man....all the best for a healthy, peaceful, and fun life ahead with your daughter!

Congratulations,MRG. One of your happiest moments will be when you hold her in arms and watch those first flakes of snow falling in the floodlight and you can explain the dynamics behind our nor'easters. I can't forget to mention strapping her onto your back and taking off down the mountain and hear her laugh because the wind and snow blowing in her face is so much fun.

63/60, looking at my 7 day forecast which takes us to nearly mid month without any 80's even, it would appear those touting a torrid torch August will have to wait for another summer to see such a thing.

We torched to 81 on August 1, but it doesn't look like we'll hit that at least in the next week. I'm still eager to get the first taste-of-fall teaser that we typically get at this time. I have not been able to track ANYTHING of late due to other things going on. Is that teaser anywhere to be seen?

Congratulations, Pete--that's awesome!!! I hope all are doing well.

Everyone is fine. Truly the real heroes are the nurses and doctors that dedicate their lives to helping people through things like child birth. Cooley-Dickinson Hospital in Northampton is quite an amazing place. Top flight care. Checking into the child birth center is like checking into a 5 star hotel. Very plush.

LOL, my first daughter responded very well to my Winter loving brainwashing. I've honed my skills and now look forward to applying advanced techniques. I've been searching the internet for skis and boots for a 4-7 month old but so far I haven't found anything. Perhaps I could start to manufacture them myself and in the process make a fortune by filling an obvious vacuum in the market.

Frankly, I've just been to busy with work and home pressures to do more than glance at things. I have really started to notice the diminishing light however. I'd say by the end of the month we'll have a nice cool shot to put the fear of god in everyone. My friends that own a building supply company just recieved a big order of insulation in preparation for the Autumn run on such items. As soon as the first crisp airmass moves in people rush into action. Our flow charts(90 day) for the major projects we've got going take us into snow season. We're already hustling to get as much done before cold weather sets in. I know for many it seems far off but its much close than you think. Especially at 2k.

Congrats bro, may I suggest some attire?
