I wouldn't say that far northeast...although maybe you were trolling.

Kevin, the Whites are calling you..lol.

LitchfieldVibrations area is like the Middle atlantic, maybe a couple inches more slush in the winter...but basically on par.

Hard to deny that. The weather doesn't stop at the states border. Kind of like where southern new england ends and northern new england begins. Hard for it to be cut and dry.

Jerry, you need a summer place on a lake out here.

High today was 80.8F

Only an hour from Boston. I will be off of here for 10 days unless I can steal Wifi while I am in Fla

HI in Orlando today was only 102

Yeah I don't think it got past 83-84F here in the hills of NE CT... not quite "close to 90."

I know dude..can't wait. We leave Aug 6th and come back the 13th..So looking forward to it.. Long range looks nice and summery up there with temps near /over 80 and periodic convection

The beautiful part is the overnight lows... like the Green Mountain valleys, the valleys in the Whites often see those 30-40F diurnal swings where it can be 82F in the afternoon with lows in the upper 40s at night provided the airmass is relatively dry.

As long as that chilly nonsense stays out of JAckson...Luckily it doesn't look that cool this year. 50's to near 60 in the AM is fine when you're on vaca

All of you should thank your lucky stars you don't live several hundred miles to the sw. What's going on in the MA area and especially down in the southern Plains makes 2010 look like a cool summer. Our sporadic cooldowns have made the occasional heat spells tolerable for sure. If you live in CNEand NNE...you are loving the last two days or so...as I was. Nights in the 50s and days in the lower 80s with low humidity. At one point, I thought about how great we have it during the summer, as compared to the sauna knows as the MA.

thank your lucky stars? i'm pretty pissed that ewr couldn't make the hottest month ever this summer... if only the pattern was bumped a few hundred miles to the N

I agree Scott. In fact, the trofs grazing us have saved us from that inferno. Amazing summer down there. I wouldn't mind experiencing it because the 103 day was one of my favorites of all time. Blast furnace heat...gotta love it!

Because you don't work outside in the sun. 103 is fine as you dash from one air conditioned environment but try swinging a hammer in it all day and see where it ranks on your favorites list.

Take it easy everyone, I know a lot of you are heading out on vacation, enjoy the weather, travel safely. Pete, enjoy posting how chilly it is, I dont think there will be anyone left to challenge you  See you in two weeks, health and happiness to all.

Have a good time Joe, enjoy the sizzle of SC. I think your crazy to go even farther south but to each his own.

Of course not working outside makes a difference. But I also like it very cold and that's no bargain but I doubt you complain much about that. I was strolling around outdoors for an hour in a suit.....hardly dashing from ac to ac. I did it because I am a wx geek amid the hottest day in decades...capiche?

Jerry laying the smackdown

Out in the sun for a whole Hour!!!??? lol I'm just giving you the business Jerry. I'm a wx geek too, hence my presence here. I think we hit 92 here that day and I didn't miss a beat with work and then golf. I don't like the heat in the least but it does rear it's ugly head from time to time and that's fine. I pretend to be into it while it happens. I do like certain aspects of summer. Summer nights are great. I just got back from the stream where I sat with my feet in the rushing water talking with an old friend about people we've lost along the way. Something very elemental about the sound of a stream. The water will flow over those stones and boulders long after I'm gone and there is something comforting about that. Just a perfect summer night out there. I sure wouldn't want to dangle my feet in the stream on a mid-winter's night. Hope you enjoy every second of any heat we get....capiche?

Inside an open foundation surrounded by concrete and crushed stone without even a hint of shade cutting steel columns. It was probably 110 to 115 in that solar dish. Lots of water no problem.

Just bustin' you. Which is worse, being in the oven of a foundation, or on a southerly facing roof doing...well, roofing?

Still, I would rather do roofing than testing unkown gas cylinders while wearing Level B PPE in a parking lot when it is 98F

On the roof it's hot as hell AND you can fall to your death.

The high was 83 here today and that's not bad for July 31st....low of 57.

But I was outside for a few hours working on the tractor and in the full sun on the driveway it felt too hot... Thankfully the sun angle is really slipping now and we are losing about 2 minutes and 15 seconds of sunlight per day. Around August 15th you begin to really notice the difference.

I would never go on vacation in the hottest wx of the season, but have fun to those that enjoy that sort of thing. I'm planning on going to Andalusia and the Costa del Sol ...couple days in Morocco.....around Nov. 1st when all the rates drop.

Bingo. I stopped going up to the roof 20 years ago. Why risk it when life's still fun? I was greatly influenced by someone I knew who fell at age 27 and had a very diminished life for the next 45 years.

Hot today but not infernal.

To feed your family. As a builder, I'm required to work up high constantly. You just have to work smart and respect the danger. I've known a few people that have fallen to their deaths, building, skiing, para-gliding, rock climbing etc. I'm not afraid of heights but am extremely cautious. I see the 20 somethings that work for me take stupid chances all the time. The only good thing about that is then I get to yell at them.lol

Exactly. But why would I risk it? Falling will eliminiate MY ability to feed my family. I've done dumb things when I was younger but I'm acutely aware of dangers I never even thought of when younger.

Can't live in a nice cozy box your whole life either. Risk/reward. I would never have seen the awesome things I've seen without taking some risks. Children do change the equation. I catch some flack for my AK adventures but that's why I pay for a big life insurance policy.lol

78/68, a high of 82 (77 @ 2k), Yesterday 80, today 82, just searing heat, not sure how much longer I can suffer through this blazing hot weather. Everything has died for lack of rainfall. Tumbleweed blowing through the cracked pastures. I guess I shouldn't have doubted the calls for a torch summer.
