Ginx snewx
Do you know if they surveyed Willimantic, CT at all? I did, probably 250 yards wide mile long most trees fallen facing NE, which was odd as the storm was heading SE. Saw some sheared tops as well, one very large tree was quartered and covered a house. Saw some tree also facing west, seemed weird that a microburst would have such a tight core with no litter on the ground directly outside it. IDK but seemed odd. ski MRG
53/52 Meteorological summer is two-thirds over. Tick, tick, tick .... That bout with disgusting heat we had a week ago was summer's best shot. We'll have another warm spell or two but it's a slow slide down now and it will pick up pace as we go.
ski MRG
You're right. Last week's heat was overhyped. Well, here it resulted in the only 2 90 degree days we're likely to see in 2011. Maybe we'll get 1 more rogue hot day but it's going to get tougher and tougher. I'm ready for autumn.

As many stated, I will be surprised to not see a mild comeback during the latter part of August but no more extreme heat this year....the rubber band snapped. weatherwiz
AFAIK, they did not. Sorry, Paul. --Turtle Thanks. Was just wondering b/c I am just going to do a little writeup on the event and wanted to make sure all the surveys were completed so I don't go ahead and write it and mention there were no tornadoes only to have a PNS come out confirming one. weatherwiz
6z GFS has an some Friday afternoon tornado potential in western SNE and NY. It really wouldn't surprise me if we had some tornado potential...something similar to Wednesday with a great deal of vertical/bulk shear values...this should at least increase 0-3km helicity values...0-1km values will ultimately depend on the wind direction within the lowest km of the atmosphere. Models are a bit more impressive with the instability now than they were but they still keep the best stuff west of us. We'll see I'm not too excited now for severe but there is potential.
