Well, a whole lot of ice up here in Ottawa. I'm pretty muh over the storm now. Just like anything, you go through the grieving process. First there was shock and disbelief that the models had changed and we were no longer going to get a blizzard, but rather freezing rain and pellets. Then there was the bargaining stage (maybe the models will shift, maybe they won't.) Finally there comes acceptance and the realization that this is Ottawa and that there will one day come another storm.

Well I hate to say it but that's because this LES is "faux snow" in some respects. LOL Here is my metaphorical analogy. Real 10-1 synoptic type snow is ice cream. LES is cool whip. You walk away for five minutes and your ice cream is still mostly intact, your cool whip on top has shriveled down to nothing. ;)

Hey I had a cumulative of like 6" of LES last week and I gladly took it, but when the wind takes that stuff your 2" compresses to about 1/2 inch and same deal when you hit it with some nice rain with DPs in the upper 30's. My 46" of cement snow last February withstood a horrific March and yet the snow cover didn't go completely until around Match 25th.

2 feet of snow basically gone in a day.

At least the deer and turkeys wont have to dig through ice to feed.

Still 15" of concrete on the ground here in L'pool. Should provide for a nice base for the next round. I see Euro went back to the weekend storm....Praying for all our peeps!! :)

On the positive side, EC is calling for 2" of snow in Ottawa tomorrow, while TWN is calling for 2-4".

yes this has been an interesting feature that has been popping up on and off in the models the past couple days, the idea of backside snows...

most of the latest higher res models are now showing a pretty good chance for snow tomorrow in the morning in ottawa valley and slowly spreading east throguh the day, into the montreal area by later evening.

depending on the amount of moisture around, could be a very treacherous day, with falling temps and winds and snow.

this snow could continue on and off throughout the region, in the form of heavier flurries and squalls through tuesday. tough to say accums, but i think their will be some in total.

then we enter THE BLOCK again (cue the music).

Not to dismiss the dismay of many on the board of lack of snow....I feel for you, trust me, but here around the lakes, we have other "worries" I'm afraid. I just spent all morning clearing my roof from the 45" of the now well compacted/saturated LES dump. With more rain this afternoon...temps to plunge late tonight/early tomorrow moring, then another long duration LES event, and not seeing folks in the area clearing off their roof, we are at risk of some weaker structures failing, if indeed we get the rain this afternoon, and a similar fall of snow as last week in select areas. Then we will be approaching X-mas, and people will turn their attention to "last minute Christmas prep." If we were to see some synoptic system brewing around that time (as hinted by a few longer range progs) there would certainly be reason for larger scale concerns.

The stuff I just shoveled off is obnoxiously dense...and deceivingly so, which only adds, IMO, to the cavalier attention given to the near future.

I will be the first to admit I am really having some frustration about this BS pattern.I understand what you are saying about the "other issues" you are having.I really do feel for those that cannot clear off their roofs and consequently may have medical conditions either clearing off the concrete that just fell or those who cannot help themselves period.I however would like it to be known that it does come down to more than a bad attitude or whining because of this current pattern. I also work in emergency road services and I also have a big chunk of my bread and butter invested in plowing snow and maintaining these same vehicles.I make or not my living with snow and other storms. It is way more than just whining it is crushing those of us who are unable to make money with the cost's so high. We can only wish to have enough snow to have to clear off our roofs. We cant even get enough to shovel here and it looks like there may possobly be even more people unemployed very shortly because of this pattern. It's a cross both ways i guess.

"This has prompted the National Weather Service to issue Lake Effect Snow Watches for much of Central New York in effect from tomorrow night through late Wednesday night. While it remains to be determined where the heaviest snow will set up, the potential exists for another 1-2 feet of snow by Thursday morning. In addition to the snow, temperatures will be cold through the end of the week, with highs only in the 20s."

Drove from home (just west of Syr) to Ludlow, Vt yesterday, and back. Snowpack from home till about Herkimer. Than 1" on the ground the entire rest of the route from Friday night's dusting. On the way back yesterday afternnoon that 1" was gone. Alot of bare ground east of the immediate CNY region. Back home today to shovel roofs. Between barns and house, I got alot of roof to shovel. Snow on the metal roofs has condensed to a very heavy 28". The roofs are too flat to slide on their own, We did lose 1 tree due to snow weight. Tipped it right over and pulled the roots. Both the tractor and the blower need a little TLC before the next go around.

I LOVE snow, but would gladly send this round to some of our starving bretheren. I've got enough for now and am worried about those higher, steeper, shingled roods I did not get to.

I am glad I did not register my sleds, I imagine the local ski areas will be starting from scratch too after this mess. I feel sorry for the businesses around here.

Mine sits in the shed unused. Had it out maybe 3 times in the last few years.

I should just get rid of it. Hardly ever used.

Once the snow eventually hits, betcha some good deals on sleds.

We've been pretty lucky so far today.. After that initial burst of snow this morning, and after the temperature went above freezing this afternoon, we've just had very spotty rain on and off downtown.. Currently the temperature is 37 F, and it's cloudy.. Anyways, I'm gonna go grab a beer, and watch more football.. Cheers,Scratch
