I would say we have a 80% change of hitting 100 at this point.. Going to be close..

LAF is 1 degree ahead of yesterday at this time, IND is 5 ahead but that is a little misleading since they were dealing with more clouds yesterday. Both places topped out at 98.

1 pm EDT Toronto readings:

Pearson Airport (YYZ): 97

Downtown (Toronto City): 98 (a six degree jump from the 12 pm reading of 92)

How is Toronto hotter than KW?

1pm Waterloo Region Int'l Airport : 93/114

--

If I go by the broken weather station in town, it's 100/133 with a td of 87 :yikes:

Isnt Toronto usually hotter than KW due to the urban heat island? Also during this heat wave Toronto has been hotter than Windsor even though windsor was forecast to have the higher temperature. I think its cause we have have not received any measurable precip for over 3 weeks now while Windsor had heavy rain last week.

OFB should be here a little after 1.

Based on OBS behind it, dp's should fall into the mid 60-around 70 range, with temps falling back into the 80's.

94/79/112 now.

not sure if it makes it out your way, but what remains of the OFB and the lake breeze should make it feel relatively comfortable by later this evening.

I don't think it's the urban heat island. I think it is due to the winds coming from a direction that is not influenced by Lake Ontario. Usually in the summer time when winds are from the E, SE, S, SW or WSW, the downtown station is a degree or two cooler compared to Pearson airport. Today, however, the winds (and they are getting stronger as the day progresses) are coming from the W/WNW and it's creating a downsloping effect from the higher elevations NW of Toronto.

clouds really on the increase so that should be about it, either way b2b 100s is pretty wild.

There's a band of mixed ACCAS/CU extending from the storms near Belvidere down towards you, probably will help keep temps from rising too much more before the OFB passes.

Farther south, IGQ is up to 100.

Detroit could give the record high mean temp a run for the money. To tie it theyd need a high of 102-103, to break it theyd need a high of 104 or higher. This is all provided the temp does not sink below 79F (this mornings low) before 1159pm tonight.

Record is 91, and we have had 89F+ a total of 8 times

Highest mean temps officially at Detroit

91F - Aug 6, 1918

90F - July 10, 1936

90F - July 18, 1942

89F - July 1, 1931

89F - July 9, 1936

89F - July 11, 1936

89F - July 17, 1931

89F - Aug 1, 2006

What about longest streak for 80+? With almost a month there without any 70s and no relief in sight it seems that might come into play eventually.
