Hmmm, so whining about Chicago's official observation site is ok (despite the fact that the same outcome was met either way, that is it was hot and they hit 100*F), but any other "whining" is "annoying".

lol.

No, complaining that you didn't get a 100+ mph derecho is "annoying".

HRRR like the NAM showing temps around 90F by 10AM. 10/10 rule would yield the forecast high of 100F.

Showing some 80 degree dew points by the end of the run too...tomorrow definitely has the potential to get very nasty in SEMI. Surprisingly enough it seems like I might have escaped the worst of the heat by traveling to St. Louis this week. :lmao:

This pig ridge is Texas's dirty little secret. It started there, it was nurtured there and it has expanded its empire into Oklahoma and Kansas. Invaded the borders of the Great Lakes area and acted completely crass along the way. What a disgusting thing it is. Go home, go away. You don't belong here. Go back to where you came from.

Nothing good comes from Texas

I agree wholeheartedly with this comment. The death ridge can go away and not come back.

...Btw anyone that has a pool, I dislike you because I lack a pool :P

Agreed. Must be nice! lol

Don't think we'll be able to make tomorrow the 3rd 100 degree day in a row here. Some questions on mid-high cloud cover coming in from the west, and the timing of the frontal positioning. 850mb temps look very toasty, and winds just ahead of the boundary will be nicely veered again. If I was forecasting I'd probably go with 95-97 for the QC, but if clouds/frontal timing issues hold off we may have another shot at 100.

I hit 100 degrees on my home weather station today with a dewpoint at that time of 79. So almost 120 on the HI. The last few days are about as bad as I can remember in terms of heat. I just stepped out to take the trash out and its still 83 degrees at 1am. Something about that isnt right! Hoosier, If I were a betting man I bet IND hits 99 and thats it. Still worth another look though.

CLE still at 81. Dew points a little lower though than just to the west, sitting at 71, so we should sneak into the upper 70s tonight not that it makes a difference here in the air conditioning. Power grid already having trouble handling the heat, had a large outage in the eastern suburbs of Cleveland on Monday, and they just shut my grid off for the last hour or so :arrowhead:

lol.

Anyways, looking forward to our first official 80*F low tonight. 75*F dewpoint right now.

You know, I've been really nice lately, but how honestly God AWFULLY stupid are you? What is your defect exactly that you cannot comprehend the following two (2) facts?

1) O'Hare is NOT a representative location for the average climate of the CITY OF CHICAGO. Additionally, it being the FOURTH climate site in 130 years of records essentially NULLIFIES the climate record of America's THIRD-LARGEST CITY.

2) O'Hare did NOT reach 100°F, thus Chicago officially did NOT reach 100°F, and thus "the same outcome" was NOT met "either way."

There's a difference between being upset about ruining a major climatic record book/misrepresenting official weather as supposedly experienced on average by 2+ million people and whining about not getting a severe thunderstorm to come through and knocking out my power or allowing me to be the center of attention on an online internet forum. HUGE difference.

Made it up to 96 here with a HI up to 109.

As of this hour ( 1am ob ) it is STILL 84/75 outside with a HI of 92. GRR raised the overnight low and now is going with a low of 80. That btw IS a first for me since moving here anyways and thus the first forecast of 80+ for a low temp.

Lansing (KIGQ), our closest obs site, made it up to 100°F. I figure for all the "whining" I've been doing in this thread I should probably mention that fact. First 100°F there I believe since July 2005.

Have to go back to July 6th and 7th 1988 for the last 100+ at this location. By the looks of it that was a drier heat as the overnight lows still managed to get down to near 60. BTW That heat wave featured 7 days in a row of 90+ ( Currently the longest stretch going back to 1988 anyways ) and also could be challenged as well. Current streak is 4 days. GRR going with 90 or better till Sunday which would bring the streak to 8!

So far...

Sun, 92

Mon, 93

Tue, 94

Wed, 96 and MAX Heat Index of 109.. Day 3 of 100+ Heat Index but not sure of what that record is?

* Edit*

Was just peaking at the record low Max and well only once has it failed to fall below 80 and on that occasion it only got down to 84. So if it fails to get below 80 tonight or tomorrow night it will be only the second time that has happened in recorded history here and these records go back to 1895! The record low max for this date is 75! We got this yesterday as it only got down to 74 and the record was 73. Record high for today is 103 and i doubt we get that. Highest ever here is 104 which should be safe as well. lol

Now down to 82/74.

Thread winning post.

As for the heat, car themometer was showing 91 as I was driving through Downtown Detroit on the way home at 12:30am. Pretty unbelievable just how bad this heat/humidity has been. As of 153 it was still 86/75/95 at City Airport. Most of the tri-county area probably bottoms out at 80-83 tonight.
