phlwx
Wow, MSP is still in the mid-80's. I guess we know where the heart of the dome is still at. MSP is still 84 at 4 AM CT. Their airport is right in the UHI. There have been a few times during heatwaves where MSP in the summer has been one of the warmer readings nationally in the morning hours. Wouldn't surprise me if they made a run at 100 today, especially if they can mix out a bit with the dewps.

michsnowfreak
This China/LA style smog is probably the worst part of this heat wave, so sickening. I agree its sickening, though I dont know if Id single it out as the worst part. Everything about the heatwave is sickening for me, except DTW trying to break records or at least hit 100F for the first time in 16 years.
Chicago Storm
Regarding the possible 100 tomorrow at ORD, I'd like to see them no lower than 89 at 10 AM and preferably 90 or 91. With only modest WAA and mostly sunny skies expected, the 10/10 rule should be pretty close. Will be interesting to see what happens with the storms. If ORD gets deluged overnight it could conceivably knock a degree or two off of the high. The low got down to 73 this morning with 0.02" of rain, but.... It's up to 89 as of 10AM, which is what it was yesterday at this time. There has been a 5F jump in the past hour. 10/10 rule would suggest 99. RFD and DPA are up to 90, with 89/77 here. Hoosier
LAF is already 95 with a dewpoint of 80 for a heat index of 115. Again one of the warmer readings in the state. Makes me wonder about possibly getting to 100...you never know since it seems like weird things happen at the station sometimes.

OHSnow
Is there another heat wave coming next week? It seems like CPC is bullish on the possibility of another heat wave for the central and eastern parts of the country by the middle of next week. Chicago Storm
ORD has peaked at 97 and Midway 98 so far. 96/80/116 here Just noticed that in the early intra-hour OBS. Probably will pick up a degree or so an hour until around 4, so 100 is quite possible still. Intra-hour OBS is 97/73/108, which would bump the HI to the highest since 7/17/06 (107). Looks like Grissom finally passed you in the dp race.

Wonder if we can pull out a heat index of 120... 97/82, 98/81, 99/80 would do it.
