Hoosier
My original call for Wed/Thu is going to suck but that has been obvious for a while. I think 98/99 is more like it. Outside shot of 100 on Thursday as this airmass is well entrenched with slightly warmer temps aloft, but I'd give that like a 20% shot at this point. cyclone77
Hottest day since 2006 here today. Hit 100.6 here at the house. Dewpoint hit 82! Peak heat index on the weather station says 125. May be a few degrees too high, but with all the corn fields around here I wouldn't doubt it. Sitting at 97/80 HI 118 currently. Lots of towers building overhead now. OHSnow
Updates on the month-to-date standings (with today's high/low added on)... these should be moving upwards considerably in the coming days with highs in the 90s Wednesday through Saturday, and lows in the 70s to near 80. Interestingly, most of the warmer months were from a bygone era when temperatures were taken at downtown weather stations, often on rooftops. Had observing practices remained the same over the period of record, this might already be a record at many locations. DTW 78.1 (3rd warmest) FNT 76.1 (5th warmest) TOL 77.4 (9th warmest) CLE 76.2 (6th warmest) MFD 74.9 (7th warmest) ORD 78.3 (6th warmest) RFD 78.3 (5th warmest) IND 80.0 (7th warmest)

wisconsinwx
A definite shot at 100 for tomorrow, but who knows? It doesn't even really matter, even hitting 100 doesn't seem like much of a milestone when I see obs like 100/81 occurring semi-regularly in this heat wave. Got a brief reprieve today, if you can call 85 with a HI in the 90s a reprieve.

tacoman25
I feel for all you Midwesterners having to deal with this unbelievably humid heatwave. Ugh...thankfully, Denver has been just far enough west to avoid the heat ridge for the most part. In 2005, we were baking during this stretch (highs 101-105 the 19th-23rd), but highs have stayed in the low/mid 90s this time around. And of course, WAY lower humidity here than what you folks have to sweat through.
