Damage In Tolland
With the LM50s dews it didn't feel that bad. It's hot in the blazing, cloudless sun, but there's nothing oppressive about this airmass. In fact, it feels pretty nice with the winds. Today felt more typical of an early May 90+ day than one of your HHH July heat waves. How did MRG gain control of your PC?

dendrite
2nd straight 12z EC run with 100+ 2m temps for Friday. If it's going to be that hot we may as well try to push the state records and go for 105+.
Ginx snewx
Hot in the direct sun but perfect at the lake with a strong wind, low humidity makes it so nice not really any semblance of torch feel just perfect summer weather.
OSUmetstud
12z EC ensemble mean has 850s of 22-24C for 12z Friday in BWI and SNE....it's coming.
dendrite
How did MRG gain control of your PC? A true torch should be >= 2SD above a station's mean. People in PHX don't scream "torch" in July for a 90+ day.

Arnold214
But think about it....a +5 departure is a torch? The number "90" I think has some sort of mysteria around it. For some reason 89 is not a big deal and then all of the sudden 90 degree is like another threshold. I think 90 is hot but I just don't view it as a torch. My personal "torch" definition for daytime highs is +15F any time of year. Works very well IMO.

Baroclinic Zone
US choked it up in the WC. Tough loss but congrats to Japan. It's something that country needs dearly to heal from all the pain and suffering they've had. Looks like I topped out at 89F. Like the looks of tomorrow for at least some needed rains. Logan11
85 was the high here and it seems like I'm pretty consistent with others in elevated spots like Pete and Dave. No spin in saying that this is not a torch here. It is above average, but from what I can see...the true torch days could be Thursday and Friday. Wednesday it's heading up, but probably still 80's here. NWS point forecast for here starting with tomorrow's low.....which seems too high to me at 68 but anyway.... 68 82 64 83 54 88 64 90 68 91 66 87 65 84 It is what it is..... warm summery week and a few days of torch. I won't arguing that it's cool and will certainly will have the a/c on for Wed. onward. Lol, you don't see the irony?

Logan11
I could have justified it today ...running around 79/80 inside now. But it isn't really humid yet so I held off. I'm hoping we can cool the house to low/mid 70s with the windows open. I figure be frugal because it will be working full bore later this week. I have the AC on upstairs now. powderfreak
The only way I'm going to get through this next week is hoping that the mountain valley here can cool us off at night... we've been averaging 7-8F lower than BTV on the overnight mins so even on the warmest nights it should still get down into the mid 60s. Last three nights' low temps were 50F, 49F, 52F with fantastic sleeping weather, so now I guess its time to start getting uncomfortable. Never any need for AC up this way thanks to the chilly nights, but I'm thinking I may want it on a day or two here in the next week. Portions of SNE up into SNH are going to absolutely bake this week. Looks brutal for the larger valleys down there... also over towards the Albany area. Even BTV on southerly winds is going to torch. It'll be very, very warm here but we should avoid the worst of it here to the east of the Spine where it cools off nicely at night.
Collinsville
bedroom is 86F right now, I have no ac. Running a fan works fine enough as long as it gets down to 70F or lower. Those rare mid 70 lows are the brutal ones. The night of August 9 into the 10th, 2001 was the worst sleeping I ever remember.

Typhoon Tip
Well the back appears to be broken by Monday of next week.....for now anyways. Yeah, it's more than that from what I'm seeing.. The pattern is just not modeled to be the same at all any longer - this is a whole new paradigm as early as this next Saturday; a full 3 days ahead of previous potential change. I'm starting to wonder if autumn comes in August this time. 2 hot days, not even a heat wave may result...Ridge never really makes it in here on 5 consecutive cycles of the GFS. At least we dodge dreaded protracted heat! I just hate it when it seems like it's arbitrary.
