nrgjeff
That UK Met Office is a good link. I also kind of like Meteoblue for European and British Isles weather. Remember Unisys Weather has GFS charts for Europe now also. Finally Weather Underground has decent forecasts if you just want a daily forecast (not charts etc). However if you want to break it down yourself beyond the 4-days on the Unisys GFS, I like Meteoblue. Also I think their model charts are based more on the ECMWF (The European model). That makes sense for two reasons: It is Europe and the model is a better tool anyway. Meteoblue web site http://www.meteoblue.../country/europe Enjoy! Roger Smith
The weather is going to be a big factor on the weekend, with strong winds (the course is wide open to a southwest gale that often blows in that region) and squally showers at times, not all that warm either, 16 C or 60 F. Friday won't be that bad of a day (partly cloudy, 20 C, 68 F with relatively light winds). If you're looking at the UK metoffice hourly reports, take Manston as your guide and Solent as an advance guide since it's stuck out on the south coast about 100 miles west of the golf course. If you're sizing up betting opportunities, remember this, the region has been in long-term drought and a bit of rain won't slow down the course very much, but pick a good "wind player" and back him even if he's ten shots behind after today, won't matter because the conditions will become brutal on the weekend. Good wind player = Any player from the UK, whether it be Scotland, Wales, England, Ireland or Northern Ireland, followed by any player from northern Europe, then any player from Europe. If you're looking to back a US player, pick somebody from a coastal town or perhaps a Plains resident. Pick someone who plays on the European tour.
