I think there was a night at LGA that was like that in the '80s. :( That would break PHL's all time record high min record assuming nothing funky happens Saturday night before midnight.

It could have been one of those days where the low occurred that ensuing evening or in a thunderstorm, or if you ask me 20 years from now I'd say the low never got below 90f. Nothing like being at one's normal high temp for the day at Midnight. :axe:

My parents' Davis is up to 102 after a low of 81 as of about 10 minutes ago. Nuts.

The Davis' RH is running 10% ahead of the ASOS so I'm not going by that, but the HI at TTN is 118. This is crazy.

Newark only has 6F to go to tie the NJ state record. It sure feels like July 1995 outside.

Ah yes, the infamous 129F heat index. I have a clip of Dennis Smith from TWC saying "In all my years of following the weather, I have never seen a heat index that high before." That day will always be the baseline against which all other hot days are measured for me. TTN officially only hit 100 with a dewpoint in the low 70s, but back then the dewpoints tended to be unrealistically low so it was quite possibly close to Philly levels. The most memorable thing which also comes through in the Philly obs was the haze... vis 3-4 miles all afternoon. The sky was milky all afternoon.

Ray, what was the highest head index you could find from around our area today? I heard someone say it was 128 at JFK but I cant find that anywhere.

Low was 86 at both LGA and EWR I believe and 84 at NYC-- did all of those tie records?

big heat returns end of this week into the weekend? 0z euro keeps 850's high but not extreme after..

Maybe regular heat? Back to last week.....BOS experienced it's hottest temperature in 85 years at 103. That's big. Also, I never remember 100+ up deep into northern NE so widespread. This is after roasting the northern plains upper Lakes. Very impressive heat spell last week and most assuredly will not be repeated again this year.
