CoastalWx
Yeah, it's just the contour that represents 24-28 C that is bubbled over our area. So I'd assume it's on the "colder" end towards 24 C. It's gonna be brutal with w-wsw winds.
A-L-E-X
28C temps aren't happening, but you guys could see 24C temps at 850 I guess. Euro loves to warm the mid levels just a bit too much. Hell, we didnt even get 25C last summer when we hit 103-105 lol.
A-L-E-X
It's gonna be brutal with w-wsw winds. Im hoping for pure west winds to maximum heating but there isnt much of a trajectory over water even with wsw winds so either is great
NorEaster27
It's gonna be brutal with w-wsw winds. It was brutal today at 95 and high dews, what was the high at ewr, 99?

NEXtreme
Certainly looks like the peak of the heat for the summer on its way. From Joe B: Aug 2010 is what "made" last summer as hot as it was. I think we will have much different August this year. So lets see Cool August for places cooking now.. north of I-

Bridgewater and Somerville have turned a pale yellow/brown Hillsborough/Belle Mead got a bit more rain two weeks ago so they arent as bad but they are on their way to crispness by weeks end. Cfa
Certainly looks like the peak of the heat for the summer on its way. From Joe B: I certainly hope not, I really really hope not. Nikolai
Does anyone think brownouts will be an issue? This is the most impressive looking heat I think I've ever seen in the past ten years or so, at least for a period of 3-4 days up and down the coast. DC-NYC should come close to or surpass 100 3-4 days in a row, which is extremely uncommon... I imagine the night time minimums by the end could be as high as the low-mid 80s as well. Would definitely not be surprised to see one of the major regional airports or Central Park bottom out at 83-84 one or two nights.
Quincy
strong signal for warm lows as well. NYC will likely not drop below 80F for a period of time, perhaps 48 hours or longer come THU-FRI...

Stormlover74
Yeah but there were a lot of con-ed power issues in Queens during 06 or 07 due to the extreme heat. This wouldn't be a widespread blackout most likely but could see alot of rolling brownouts due to excessive AC usage. No. Highest temperatures were low 90s that week. Sundog
I think we'll be fine. It's not like people turn their ACs off when it's 95 as opposed to 105. Whoever was going to use juice to keep cool already has been doing so on days like today. Nothing happened today so why should something happen in Friday? You mean to say that someone that has an AC had it off today? Impossible.

You mean to say that someone that has an AC had it off today? Impossible. ACs have to work harder to keep places cool in 102F heat vs low/mid 90s. It sucks more electricity. No different than heaters in the winter...we all use heat when its 34F outside, but it works a lot harder when its 4F versus 34F. Our heating bills tell us that. We've already been near 100 area wide practically and nothing at all happened. How much more often do you think the AC compressors will turn off in 95-98 degree heat as opposed to 100-102 heat? Your analogy contained a 30 degree spread, of course it will cost much more to heat at 4 degrees. Now compare temp differences of 34 and say, 28 and that becomes a valid analogy. Your point, however, is lost when adjusting the numbers to such a small spread and that's MY point
