Yes I know but it doesn't take much to see the rotation on radar

It's raining now.... the party is over for now :( It was fun while it lasted-- hope to resume later next week! :)

I got enough rain to barely leave a trace on the ground. I don't understand how it can be so difficult to get a good downpour over here!

Looks like a southern Nassau special-- I got 0.13 but it looks like Long Beach was hit the hardest.

In these kinds of summery patterns, what I call a true scorcher, it's much harder to get rainfall-- likely, there's some kind of feedback between the dry ground and the dry atmosphere. We're almost in 90s level drought conditions over here.

This heat wave was record breaking for me.105 on Friday,102 with mostly cloudy skies yesterday with limited sunshine for much of the day.I finally dropped below 86 for the first time since Thursday morning.101 degrees at 11 oclock in the morning on Friday.Simply amazing stuff.Looks like we get a near repeat to close out the last few days of July.

Let's see if July ends up being a record breaking month!

it's above 80 so far and unless we get some real cool air it should stay above 80.0...

This has been my second favorite summer so far, right behind last year's.... I put this ahead of 1991, 1993, 1995, 1999, 2002-- because of the extreme nature of the heat we've had. If last summer was the summer version of 1995-1996, this is the summer version of 2002-03 !

July 5-7 1908 had three in a row...

.................................................

day...max...min

5th.....90.....80

6th.....95.....81

7th.....93.....84

the temperature dropped to 79 in a brief shower this afternoon...So the record of three straight days with a minimum of 80 or better in 1908 lives for another day...

After having experienced that big heat wave last July and the one this month, do you think this one was more extreme?

Yes, I think this one was more extreme without a doubt. The dews were the highest I have seen in years with my station hiting an 80 degree dew. Station recorded a max HI of 132 degrees, I think the dews were about 10 percent too high but reguardless it was very impressive and historic.

I checked your temps and compared them to mine-- maybe we dont have a hot bias-- you were only 0.7 degrees hotter than me on Friday and a slight 0.1 degree difference on Saturday.

This last heatwave was certainly impressive but New York City has only hit 90 14 times this summer. That certainly is not impressive when the record is 39. Nonetheless its still amazing to see 100 -105 readings 3 days in a row.

The record of 39 days is through july? Whats the record for the full summer?

The record is tainted because we all know last year should have had the record. If we go by LGA, they had 48 90 degree days last year.

The most for July is 20 from 1993. Unless LGA had more than that last July?

The EWR records are off the charts-- they may have had more than 60 90 degree days last year.
