Isotherm
I think today's the closest I've felt to the Phoenix weather I experienced a few years ago, 115-120 degrees. Walk outside into a literal blowtorch.

Nikolai
Yeah, 106-107 is one thing but 108... eh. It's way hotter than any of the other reporting stations, I definitely question that reading's validity. DCA 102/78 btw HIX of 121!!!
CAT5ANDREW
I recall 1993, 1995, 2005 and 2006 all having 100 or close to 100 for 2-3 days in a row. 1977 is just before my time. 2005 had 100 at LGA with a 98 and a 99 I believe for a 3 day period. dbc
That seems very unlikely you would need a dew point well over 80 Here or in Vegas? Perhaps it was a tad lower humidity than that in Vegas. I believe it rained the next day so who knows.
Sundog
I think Newark is completely legitimate. People allover the place have temps higher than they've ever had them, and we know Newark is always a little higher to begin with. I hit 104.1 here as a high, I mean that has to mean something. TheTrials
Newark has maxed out between 4 and 6pm all summer. So we have hours to go. 110 will be easy, lets see if we can do

It's way hotter than any of the other reporting stations, I definitely question that reading's validity. Incorrect, this was already expected at 9AM when Newark was already 95. So 108 is right. If they do nerf it, it'll be because of politics... and quite frankly, it would be outrageous if they nerfed it.

It sounds to me that they are falling in line with the typical spread. Maybe the surrounding stations in NJ can corroborate.

MJO812
103 was the highest that I ever remember hitting in a long time. When I was a kid, I played little league baseball in 103 degree heat. That was a long time ago.

Jefflaw77
110+ at EWR would knock the old ALL-TIME record so out of the books it would be incredible.. 108 - smashes the old record.. I doubt we see something like this again in our lifetime.. Incredible!
dbc
2005 had 100 at LGA with a 98 and a 99 I believe for a 3 day period. I defintiely recall that. Sundog
Newark has been 4-6 degrees higher then all the NYC stations the entire summer. So today is normal. Their official forecast is for 106. So how out of line would it be that they came 2 degrees higher than that? The only reason people are doubting it is because of climo. Records are meant to be broken. Cfa
I'm now at 105.4 now that the clouds have gone away somewhat I wish this thing could measure the dew point, it only has temp + humidity + time/date. Humidity is 45%.

A-L-E-X
I think it's over dude. I maxed out at 104.1 but now I am 102.9. Maybe not for Newark though. It sucks just to be a spectator though. This is like getting 20" of snow and then changing over to sleet while watching Newark pile on more snow and approach 30" 110 degrees would be like 30 inches of snow lol.
