Analog96
Individual day, yes. But last year was basically a 60 day heat wave bro. We wont ever see a year like last year again, IMO. We're talking about short-term heat waves here, not the overall summer.

Never say never What do you think is more likely to happen-- a snowfall season like 1995-96 or a heat season like 2010? I think we will see at least one more of each in our lifetimes-- meaning at least one snowfall season that beats 1995-96 and one heat season that beats 2010. If the 11 year cycle holds, I want to see what 2021 has in store for us..............
CAT5ANDREW
Up and down the coast was what was pointed out not areas to the west. From Boston to DC along the coast it was over 100 July 6th last year. The intensity of the heat, dewpoints and coverage of both are rare and did not happen last year
ag3
We're talking about short-term heat waves here, not the overall summer. Today is a historical day for a reason. Once in a lifetime heat.
A-L-E-X
The intensity of the heat, dewpoints and coverage of both are rare and did not happen last year Is this bigger than July 15, 1995? I would say yes. Might be bigger than the 1993 and 1999 heat spikes too.

dbc
The intensity of the heat, dewpoints and coverage of both are rare and did not happen last year No question about that. I was out there at 1:30 today and the humidity is unbearable. Can't even breathe. The only hotter day I experienced then today was probably the day in 1995 you pointed out yesterday and a 115 temperature in Vegas and believe it or not it wasn't that typical dry heat there was some humidity that day too. Forget the year but I can only imagine what the HI was that day as it was an unusually humid day for Vegas standards anyway.

Well, my thermo recorded a high of 104.9 (so far!) and I'm adjusting it a bit downward for it's approx. 1.5-1.8 degree heat bias, we'll see if it gets to like 105.5 I'll be sure I got to 104 lol.
