I don't know, but I think it is more than a bit presumptuous and irresponsible to assume that the FAA/NWS has an organized goal of scheming and editing observations as they deem fit to try to prove/disprove global warming. I can't say if lowering it was the right thing to do or not but I have no doubt it wasn't to try to hide global warming from anyone. Give them a bit more credit...

Well, If it happens again today, we'll know for sure somethings up.

Nothing in the way for Newark to hit at-least 105 today....

Haha I know, I was just playing. I don't think it's too accurate considering we don't get the new official ob for a few minutes. Who knows though.

We'll see. Weather.com claims EWR was 100 at 10:25am.

The official observation for 10:51am should be at least 101-102 then.

Today's temps will push many sites to +4 - +5 for July with most sites recording more 90(+) days than 2010 so far. Guidance has 90s for most through Sun , then Tue/Wed before more strong heat next Friday. Back to back scorching July's. Can August follow?

Bro,

What is your temperature right now? Stop worrying about Newark. LOL.

Im showing 98.4 degrees in Bayside! Amazing.

I'm only at 96. Surprised actually. Maybe my thermometer sucks lol.

EDIT: maybe not! LGA also reported 96 at 11am.

NAM is now jumping on the idea of some convection in the area this afternoon and tomorrow. If it is correct, it could hold highs at Central Park down to 103 today and 100 tomorrow. Let's hope it's wrong!

WX/PT

I think we'll be ok through the afternoon but the system and strorms over the GL may impact the region into tomorrow and limit record heat. But still a scrocher.
