Jebman
Loud thunder - brilliant lightning - lighting everything outside up with daytime brilliance - at times it is horizon to horizon sheet lightning - awesome storm developing to our west and bearing down on us like the 2004 Tsunami. mattie g
I don't recall another summer during which I've been witness to so many thunder and lightning shows with nary a drop of rain to show for it. Happened again overnight. It's really quite amazing.
Stormpc
After the weekend bust when I got .04 of rain, I got nearly 2.0 in last night's storms. Lightning was scary with booming thunder. Not much wind, no hail. 2 storms. Nearly continuous thunder and lightning from about 9pm thru 1:30 am.
tamerakitten
We got SLAMMED in Sharpsburg last nite from about 9pm to midnite. The storm had the best lightning show I've seen in years. Dime & quarter size hail--it sounded like machine guns hitting the house. Got 9/10th of an inch rain.
CranberryWX
A severe storm moved through at 4AM this morning waking everyone up with house shaking thunder. A quick downpour put down 0.68". This is the best rain we've had since July 12th.
mappy
Chance for more storms this afternoon?
catoctin wx
That was a beast of a storm last night at about 11 pm. At one point I got up to check to see if my deck or any tree's were on fire because a strike was so close. Ah, the stupid things you assume when you are woken suddenly by a massive thunderclap. Ellinwood
Chance for more storms this afternoon? You know it SPC didn't even have a See Text in ANY part of the region yesterday, save for a small 5% wind risk in S VA in the 20z update. So much fail. The hubby said around 11 he could see what looked like strobe lights going off to our north, the line went from York to past Frederick. I think it hit us around 1230 or so, but it didn't wake me up. You know it SPC didn't even have a See Text in ANY part of the region yesterday, save for a small 5% wind risk in S VA in the 20z update. So much fail. I could go for some more storms, but I have softball so I can also live without them this afternoon.
WxUSAF
Guess MBY got skunked last night...I drove from Columbia up to Bel Air around 4:30pm and torrential rain started about 1mi south of my house along I-95. Was in and out of storms the whole time and then a downpour in Bel Air around 6pm. Looking forward to another round today, but we need to turn it off tomorrow! My brother-in-law is getting married...outside...with no tent...at 7pm tomorrow

Ellinwood
Slight risk... 15% wind+hail Looks like more of what we saw yesterday, only this time there's a blob of precip over the Apps. that could also trigger stuff.

Kmlwx
Can't complain about the timing. New NAM looks like 19 or 20z with the line. Although - with severe around here 9 out of 10 times what can go wrong, will go wrong. I guess we'll see how it plays out. In the meantime, I hope we can manage some good storms today - I got hail at my house for the first in what feels like forever with the storms yesterday. Was quite a sight. yoda
LWX discoo seems to be mentioning good potential for large hail... even said very large hail, but that might be precluded by slight moisture increase in upper levels...
