Can't tell you how many times this year that this has happened: a storm blowing up right over me. Booming thunder, frequent lightning and some small hail here.

That cell just got warned. These storms don't seem to have much quit in them. They just keep popping up.

no rain or storm to your south but the lightning show to the east/northeast is spectacular. the anvil head is illuminated, there are frequent brilliant c2 g strikes, and best of all there is pink lightning.

Spectacular was the word that came to mind for me too. In the last 90 minutes, I don't think there's been more than 15 seconds without a CG strike somewhere nearby. One was so close, I heard a "sizzle" like a light bulb shorting out, right before the explosion of thunder.

Somehow got the kids to sleep, in our bed, but it is still rocking.

Heavy rain has moved back in. Winds gusting to near 50 mph. Can't say I can recall a storm forming over me, moving away, then doubling back and hitting again.

EDIT: 0.75" of rain in 10 minutes. Rain Rate on the Davis says 8.11" an hour.

2nd EDIT: Quarter-sized hail now accumulating on the sidewalks.

About the same here... less than a tenth of an inch of rain

I was up in Jersey playing golf today and a storm blew up on us. Left at around 6:00 and hit a good amount of heavy rain on the way home, but just missed the storms near Baltimore. I peeked at the radar on the way home and was hopeful of seeing some action when I got back. And I'm not shocked to have seen nothing except for lighting and thunder.
