TradeWinds
best "rain" that we have had in north Frederick in a while. Even those storms the other night missed by half a mile. Wife just called to ask if she should turn on the sprinklers this morning, it was a relief to say no. I must live in the true desert of Frederick. Rain gauge this morning was less than 0.1" and probably more like T. Other than July 8, essentially no rain at my house since early May. At this point, this drizzle isn't going to water my plants! Current conditions in Ballenger Creek...drizzle!

It seems that any place in Frederick that is west of Rt 15 can be considered a desert (the new Leesburg perhaps?). If I had a rain gauge, I doubt it would show much of anything this morning, but its better than normal.

We are in the Ballenger Creek area also. Still drizzling hoping we get some more substantial stuff.

Still drizzling hoping we get some more substantial stuff. check out http://water.weather.gov/precip/ and filter on Maryland for the last 90 days. Frederick is clearly the desert of the D.C. region along with D.C. proper itself. Views from PA and VA show it well too. Looks like we're 6-8" below normal. Part of Loudon and Fairfax are as low as 2" below. Crazy pattern this summer and looks like we got the short end of it. Now my water bill will make my wallet short! I have this feeling that what we saw this morning is it for us. There is stuff out to the West but I don't have much hopes for it. I dread to see our water bill too. My first year with a garden and I have had to water it everyday for over a month.
