best "rain" that we have had in north Frederick in a while. Even those storms the other night missed by half a mile.

Wife just called to ask if she should turn on the sprinklers this morning, it was a relief to say no.

I must live in the true desert of Frederick. Rain gauge this morning was less than 0.1" and probably more like T. Other than July 8, essentially no rain at my house since early May. At this point, this drizzle isn't going to water my plants! Current conditions in Ballenger Creek...drizzle!

 You and me both. It seems that any place in Frederick that is west of Rt 15 can be considered a desert (the new Leesburg perhaps?). If I had a rain gauge, I doubt it would show much of anything this morning, but its better than normal.

All three of us must be in the same general area of Frederick. We are in the Ballenger Creek area also. Still drizzling hoping we get some more substantial stuff.

check out http://water.weather.gov/precip/ and filter on Maryland for the last 90 days. Frederick is clearly the desert of the D.C. region along with D.C. proper itself. Views from PA and VA show it well too. Looks like we're 6-8" below normal. Part of Loudon and Fairfax are as low as 2" below. Crazy pattern this summer and looks like we got the short end of it. Now my water bill will make my wallet short!

It sounds like it. Tradewinds said that he lives near Ballenger Creek too. I'm up just north of Ft. Detrick, so a few miles north of both of you.

Hope you are enjoying the rare cloudy/rainy day

Yep that map shows the truth. I have this feeling that what we saw this morning is it for us. There is stuff out to the West but I don't have much hopes for it. I dread to see our water bill too. My first year with a garden and I have had to water it everyday for over a month.

VALID 031703Z - 031830Z

SCATTERED THUNDERSTORM DEVELOPMENT IS POSSIBLE DURING THE NEXT FEW

HRS OVER PORTIONS OF CNTRL/ERN VA AND SERN MD. ENVIRONMENT MAY

SUPPORT A RISK FOR DAMAGING WINDS. CONDITIONS WILL CONTINUE TO BE

MONITORED FOR POSSIBLE WW.

LATEST VIS SATELLITE IMAGERY INDICATES REMNANT CLOUD COVER

ASSOCIATED WITH EARLIER MCS OVER THE OH VALLEY IS SPREADING EWD

ACROSS THE APPALACHIANS. AHEAD OF THIS CLOUDINESS...MOSTLY CLEAR

SKIES EXIST OVER SRN VA...WITH PARTLY CLOUDY CONDITIONS OVER

CNTRL/ERN VA AND SERN MD. AREAS OF INSOLATION ARE ALLOWING

TEMPERATURES TO WARM FROM THE LOW/MID 80S INTO THE LWR 90S AT 16Z.

THIS HEATING COMBINED WITH SURFACE DEWPOINTS IN THE 70S IS AIDING IN

THE DEVELOPMENT OF WEAK TO MODERATELY UNSTABLE CONDITIONS /I.E.

I am re-finishing a table. I needed to work in the garage on it and it has been so hot had to put it off. Still humid out but the cloud cover has allowed me to get it started. :)

Sorry I missed this post earlier. That map shows a perfect rainshadow downwind of the Catoctins.

Hopefully we get some help today, but it looks like the best will once again go south of us or fizzle over the mountain.
