weatherwiz
That stupid clipper craps out and allows the second low to come west. Already see it happening on the euro. The PV phasing isn't helping either. Does the euro at least show potential for widespread minor accumulations with the clipper or does it crap it out so much that it doesn't give us much of a chance? Mr Torchey
I am telling you right now this thing is going to be forced south of us, very snowy few days coming up for new england starting friday, especially away from the coast.
40/70 Benchmark
Well if anyone can do it it's him As much as the 12z GFS/ensembles are a bit of a step back I still don't think it's anything to totally be worried about. Some subtle differences can really change this outcome. If the 12z euro (and especially the ensembles) show any solution that is similar to the GFS than that definitely will be somewhat of a red light but we are still at least 5+ days out and when it comes down to things like s/w timing and phasing getting emotional over what one or two runs do with this is not good I'll just play the wait and see game and try not to place any emotional attachment until were within 4 days. I know its a long way out, blah, blah, but Euro is locked onto $hit and now the GFS ensembles have joined it. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say a swfe is our greatest hope. 40/70 Benchmark
Euro might be underestimating the amount of Pac energy ejecting into the northern Plains with the first system I hope it's understimating something.

ORH_wxman
Euro might be underestimating the amount of Pac energy ejecting into the northern Plains with the first system That's what I've been thinking about a lot the last couple of days. If more energy gets ejected with first system, that could help us out 2-fold. We still have a good 24 hours of model runs to get a better trend int hat direction before we are getting into lock-mode for the Euro.(for system #1)

powderfreak
Yeah I know. That would be horrible. I haven't seen the EURO but I do not like what you are saying, haha. Are we in for another cutter? Please tell the Reverand to make it track east of us. I'd like to see all this snow stick around... winter storm warnings now flying on BTV's update. Plows are out and its coming down. Problem is this stuff is pure fluff and air... any sort of rain/warmth in a cutter scenario would wipe out the 6" in my yard in a blink of an eye. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say a swfe is our greatest hope. This solution wouldn't really be all that bad honestly. After going through what happened last winter I'll take a SWFE in a heartbeat and besides a storm tracking around the BM this is the second best solution I think I'd want. Yeah there tends to be mixing issues and changeovers but at least I stand a decent chance of getting some accumulation and as long as the WAA isn't too fast to occur I can usually get several inches of snow. Still a lot of time to get this to a colder appeal though...it doesn't have to be a coastal bomb to do that either.
