A-L-E-X
It was hot today (90 degrees at JFK) but nothing like back in 1993, when we had a multiday super heat wave-- on this date in 1993 JFK hit 101 and 100 on the day after-- NYC was in the middle of a three day streak of 100 (100,101,102) and EWR was in the middle of a FIVE day 100+ streak, during which they tied their all time record of 105 TWICE on the way to NINE 100+ days that summer! dbc
And then in January 1994 we had negative readings multiple days in a row at least where I was (SE Monmouth). A first time experience for me at the time. Talk about extremes!

A first time experience for me at the time. Talk about extremes! Yes, one of my favorite span of going from summer to winter! Some other great ones were 1995-1996, 2002-03 and of course 2009-2010. Heat extremes now usually lead to good things for the winter
CAT5ANDREW
That was the last time we had 100 degrees in the summer and 0 the following winter.(summer of 1980 and Christmas Day 1980 were the only other 100-0 combo in my lifetime)

How many times did we hit 100 in July and August that year? I know the July-August combo was the hottest on record. If June had been warmer it would have been the hottest summer on record. Didn't the heat not break that year until the third week of September? I think we had like 12 straight weeks of heat!
