ag3
12z GFS brings another heat wave towards the end of the month of July for a couple of days. After that, it cools down the whole country big time, epsecially the NE, and if it's correct, the first week or 2 of August are pretty normal to below normal.. Pure fantasy land though. I wonder if that last heat wave and subsequent pattern change gets pushed back a week or two, like some of our other episodes.

Probably has something to do with the lows. Didn't JFK cool off better at night than the city?

They were in the mid and upper 70s. The highs have been off the charts though, but not enough to make up for the lows lol.
tmagan
I know you can't view convective precipitation the same as stratiform precipitation on the models, but the RGEM has a 2.5" maximum just north of NYC tonight.

ag3
0z euro is not that hot anymore for late this week. Looks like normal temps. Saturday appears to be the hottest with temps in the 90's. Its building a heat ridge in the midwest that is heading east. But that is for after day 10 (day 12+). Overall, it took away any big heat for late week. Let's see what 12z says. ag3
Nice slug of precip heading east. We really need that rain. 6z GFS gets it into our area with .50"+ for NYC and north. NAM breaks it all up and gives us zero.

Isotherm
HRRR also brings in convection for later this afternoon. Big rains to break dry spells are always the toughest to predict, but based upon the explosion of the radar and precipitable water values near 1.9", I think many of us will see some much needed rains today.
