12z GFS brings another heat wave towards the end of the month of July for a couple of days.

After that, it cools down the whole country big time, epsecially the NE, and if it's correct, the first week or 2 of August are pretty normal to below normal..

Pure fantasy land though.

With all this heat, I wonder how hot our July will end up being. I know JFK was +5 last I checked. At this rate, they may be challenging last year's record July lol.

Idk Alex. After Saturday, it appears we come back to normal weather for a week, until a mini heat wave towards the end of the month.

I wonder if that last heat wave and subsequent pattern change gets pushed back a week or two, like some of our other episodes.

Departures through Jul 23rd

ALB: +4.3

NYC: +4.3

EWR: +5.9

LGA: +3.7

JFK: +2.7

ISP: +3.2

ABE: +4.6

TTN: +5.6

ACY: +5.5

PHL: +4.7

Wow, this is disappointing-- I wonder why the JFK departure is so much less than NYC's even though JFK was basically double theirs just a week or so ago.

Probably has something to do with the lows. Didn't JFK cool off better at night than the city?

Yup, that has to be it. They were in the mid and upper 70s. The highs have been off the charts though, but not enough to make up for the lows lol.

0z euro is not that hot anymore for late this week.

Looks like normal temps. Saturday appears to be the hottest with temps in the 90's.

Its building a heat ridge in the midwest that is heading east. But that is for after day 10 (day 12+).

Overall, it took away any big heat for late week. Let's see what 12z says.

Nice slug of precip heading east. We really need that rain.

6z GFS gets it into our area with .50"+ for NYC and north. .75" - 2" from NYC and north.

NAM breaks it all up and gives us zero.

0z Rgem dumps a lot of rain in our area today.

HRRR also brings in convection for later this afternoon. Big rains to break dry spells are always the toughest to predict, but based upon the explosion of the radar and precipitable water values near 1.9", I think many of us will see some much needed rains today.
