See my post above... In summary I do not think you have to wait that long.

Stupid me, I don't know how I managed to gloss over your post. Thanks for the info, though. The snow has picked up a little more in intensity in the last few minutes, I've noticed, but it's still pretty light. With darkness on its way, the snow should start accumulating more effectively, as well. Right now, the temperature is about 30 degrees.

Good link to keep an eye on...http://www.erh.noaa.gov/gsp/tdwr/rL_9.gif its the Charolotte TWDR (TCLT) long range. It appears to be showing the increasing echoes to the west. The 88ds may be overshooting them somewhat right now.

About a 1/3" here, not quite half. The trees are very white, but ground coverage is less than stellar. I'm wondering if we'll make it to an inch. Hopefully the rebuilding later, especially after sunset, will result in more accumulation. Still, nice to see early December bonus snow.

Where in Chapel Hill are you? I've got about an inch near Timberlyne...

Estes and Caswell, by the Elementary School. I know the trees have grabbed some of the snow, but even in the more open areas it's less exciting. It doesn't look that much less than what you have, though.
