I knew that i was out of this one. I guess that helps to not give e poop about my area.

It will come Burger.....It will come... And when it does, we will talk about it

I never bought into it at all. Of course it's kind of a kick in the nuts how many people are cashing in. I saw like 10 little flakes. violin.gif

I'm pretty sure KCLT was the only station right at average on the entirety of the east coast last year. Couple that with losing at least 24" of snow between 3 storms and I think you can understand my frustrations.

Fair enough, I suppose I'd be frustrated as well if I'd had so many close calls and not a lot to show for them. Just postpone the "winter cancel" posts until New Year's :P

FFC added in chance of flurries IMBY for tonight and tomorrow morning, with better pops in far N GA. Not much but it'd be awesome to see a few mangled flakes

Had a heavy burst of snow in Southern Pines on the front end of the precip then it changed to sleet/rain. I am in Raleigh now with what looks to be between 0.5-1" depending on which surface you measure. Saw 2 accidents near the NCSU campus and yet there is only a slight amount of slush in patches on the roads.

Officially -SN here in Falkland, just wnw of the airport... Been at said rate for about the last 15 min, just now beginning to settle on the elevated surfaces and SN board, but not much. Nickel and dime flakes, with a couple quarters mixed in. If this is the lightest we see on avg between now and 6z, feel pretty good, but that remains to be seen.

Precipitation across the piedmont and coastal plain should continue for the next few hours. The first bands that are moving in right now will likely be the heaviest, and thats actually a good thing to quickly get temperatures down to near freezing so snowfall accumulation can begin. After the first bands, snow-showers will become more scattered in nature, but should keep redeveloping to the east of the mountains. As the slow slides past, it will redevelop offshore at around 00z and precipitation should begin to shut off by around 9-10pm tonight.

Just came from Oak Ridge (just outside Greensboro) Big flakes falling with inch on the ground. Roads starting to get a little slushy in places. Beautiful scenery :)

Got home, Thomasville, and we barely have a dusting with sleet/rain falling. This has been a wonderful afternoon

Moderate sleet here in SE Wake, Looks like warm nose aloft is killing the snow chances here. I'd love to see the precip back west fill in more.....

Its not a warm nose, its loss of saturation deep enough in the column to produce snow. Its more likely to be graupel or ice pellets.

Snow mixed with light sleet here in Wilson ATM. it has tapered down quite a bit - HEAVY snow for a few minutes while i was on my way to the grocery store but no accumulations, and by the time I got out of there with my usual french toast/snow cream staples  the ground was completely covered, as well as trees/roofs/etc. Roads are fine, temperature according to the car was 34. It's really beautiful - if i can find my camera, I'll take some pics :snowman:

My neighborhood street now has a coating of snow on it since the sun has pretty much gone down. Looks like a few more pockets of light-moderate snow before the precip shuts off. Should leave a solid half inch on the ground for the total. Wish we could have hit an inch, but that's asking a lot.

And just remember where we were 10 years ago on this date. Rocky Mount was getting plastered while the central and western piedmont got screwed.
