SBUWX23
are the radars not picking up all the precip? it kind of looks mangled but people are still reporting snow Theres a big whole on KRAX over wake county that is an error. and there are some holes when you get much further west as some of the snow is a bit shallower then it was initially. superjames1992
Good link to keep an eye on...http://www.erh.noaa....p/tdwr/rL_9.gif its the Charolotte TWDR (TCLT) long range. It appears to be showing the increasing echoes to the west. The 88ds may be overshooting them somewhat right now. Thanks for the link! The snow is starting to pick up here again. Big, fat flakes are falling. Very picturesque! Some of the snow scenes from around 1 PM earlier this afternoon were very beautiful, as well. It's been a great snow to watch. magpiemaniac
Four miles west of downtown Greensboro, 31 degrees and 1.75" of snow so far. Should exceed 2" before this is all finished. Tullioz
cool we are at 1.4 right now.good luck for the rest of the storm Looking at radar there is one more batch of moderate snow that looks to pass over the area the next hour or so then it should taper off and be more scattered in nature. Maybe another inch in this area if we are lucky. Either way it is more than expected so no complaints. Should make for some cold morning lows in the coming days. Itunis
Nah, not really. This is getting old though, just like 09-10 Dude, this is what...the 4th day of winter? Calm down. How much did you get overall in 2009-10 and what is your average, by the way? Eyewall may disagree but getting only slightly above average snow when people around you get well above average snow doesn't make it a crappy winter IMO. WidreMann
The thing is that these bands have decent rates, but they move through too quickly. We barely pick up anything.

I'm pretty sure KCLT was the only station right at average on the entirety of the east coast last year. Couple that with losing at least 24" of snow between 3 storms and I think you can understand my frustrations.
phil882
What a horrible day in the southern mtns, low 30's and rain. Its even rain at 5000 FT no midlevel support at all. I'm enjoying the day with rain and 36 here at dollywood. Was 33 when I left Franklin with rain. Yep... this is one of those rare cases that we get screwed while areas to the east get some significant snowfall. The low is sliding to the ESE so it goes directly overhead here and we have too much WAA aloft to get anything other than rain. However, we will make it up to some degree with upslope snowfall. About a 1/3" here, not quite half. The trees are very white, but ground coverage is less than stellar. I'm wondering if we'll make it to an inch. Hopefully the rebuilding later, especially after sunset, will result in more accumulation. Still, nice to see early December bonus snow. But what about the boundary layer that was suppose to prevent snowfall accumulation? Let this be a good lesson about the differences between early December and early March. MountainMarvel
Realizing that snow this afternoon IMBY was not happening, I drove an hour north to the Linville area, and almost three inches had already fallen. Driving was treacherous, so I turned back, but not before capturing these beautiful scenes.

eyewall
Had a heavy burst of snow in Southern Pines on the front end of the precip then it changed to sleet/rain. I am in Raleigh now with what looks to be between 0.5-1" depending on which surface you measure. Saw 2 accidents near the NCSU campus and yet there is only a slight amount of slush in patches on the roads.
