Ian
DISCUSSION...CLUSTERS OF THUNDERSTORMS ARE EXPECTED TO CONTINUE DEVELOPING AND INTENSIFY THIS AFTERNOON IN ADVANCE OF A SHORT WAVE TROUGH MOVING EWD TOWARD THE MID ATLANTIC REGION. AIR MASS IS VERY MOIST WITH SURFACE DEW POINTS IN THE LOW 70S...AND DIABATIC HEATING HAS RESULTED IN DESTABILIZATION WITH MLCAPE OF 1500 J/KG. SWLY MID LEVEL WINDS OF 30-40 KT ARE CONTRIBUTING TO SUFFICIENT VERTICAL SHEAR TO ENHANCE THREAT FOR SEVERE STORMS. LOCALIZED DAMAGING WIND GUSTS AND HAIL WILL BE THE PRIMARY THREATS. Jebman
Most of the energy is north of Woodbridge - I don't think we'll get too much of the rain here - but I feel sorry for dca and points north. Everyone in dca and north better build an ark. I get off easy this time. Philadelphia is going to get waterboarded - with NO air at all included in the package More of the energy is transferring to Pennsylvania with time - NWS is gonna be SCRAMBLING to keep up with these trends LMAO
adelphi_sky
Everyone in dca and north better build an ark. Yessssssssssssssssssss! That's what I like to hear! I don't need no stinking ark. My lawn and garden is going to slurp up that rain so fast it will still look dry this time tomorrow. the more rain the better. I remember that time it rained 6 inches in one day. Greenbelt, Adelphi, College Park was completely flooded. My wife and I couldn't even go home. We had to wait until the water receded.

WinterWxLuvr
Incredibly hard rain here for the past few minutes, overwhelming everything, gutters, driveway, lawn. The radar seems to underestimate the intesity this time. Sometimes it seems to overestimate it, but not this time.
Ellinwood
Plenty of thunder in Germantown... just a few drops of rain at the moment. I expect that will change. ---- 3:10 - light rain... most of the lightning is in-cloud. Thunder is echoing off a nearby hill and the acoustics are fantastic. TradeWinds
absolute deluge in Frederick, MD. Haven't seen consistent rain rates like this since 2006 (? think that's the right year). My gauge reads 1.6" after 45 min. I agree with poster about overwhelming gutters. Finally out of the rain hole!
