Took a quick look at soundings from the DC area and Wallops Island, VA. convective temp is 96 - 101 degrees so we are right on the threshold.

104 degrees right now. Mertztown at 102. Some CU but nothing to fret

Man, there are some incredible temps out in Pennsylvania. Johnstown, at 2300', was at 89 before noon with a low of 77! Altoona, 1500' elevation, was 98 before noon, six hotter than yesterday at the same time when it reached 101!

Incidentally, the high of 101 at Altoona yesterday was the hottest ever recorded in the month of July, since records began in 1926. The previous record was 99 from 7/17/1988. Today may reach 102-105 in Altoona.

Yeah, MesoWest obs really showing max PA temps right now in an area from PTW to RDG to ABE. I see the closest spots to me reporting 100, 103 and 105. Amazing.

My parents' Davis is up to 102 after a low of 81 as of about 10 minutes ago. Nuts.

The Davis' RH is running 10% ahead of the ASOS so I'm not going by that, but the HI at TTN is 118. This is crazy.
