I know its my car and all, but it said 102 when i got onto the Blue Route once onto the blue route it leveled off at 100 for the whole drive down it, then once i had to stop at Baltimore Pike to get onto it, it spiked back to 102, but driving down local roads to get home the temp dropped to 95 then once closer to home where there is like no tree's for shade it spike back up to 102.

100.0 here @ 4pm.

Max. still 100.4 @ 3:20pm

Definetely hasn't been full sun either here with that streak of Cu on the satellite sitting overhead much of the afternoon here. No wonder RDG and ABE are roasting they are Cu-free.

I'm pretty sure KPTW will hit it. If KPHL doesn't hit 100 tomorrow, though, my prediction will be slightly high. The only good thing about hot summers is that decent winters often follow, right?

Has to be a more westerly wind tomorrow and less cloudiness or Philly won't do it. I'm surprised PNE didn't hit 100.

Yeah its strange seeing the mid-90s straddling the west side of I-95 from Chester, PA to about Trenton, NJ. Could the Delaware River really have an infuence, or maybe just the recent rains out that way.

i think they should be good. I think the morning fog didn't help today at all. Tomorrow morning should be fog free and a higher starting temp. Forecast also shows a west wind.

Today in the NW Philly Burbs

High 93.5

Low 72.9

High Heat index 114.6

Tomorrow the Wxsim has a high of 99....the highest temp I have ever recorded here is 95.7 on July 6, 2010 could be in danger tomorrow!!

The all-time record high for tomorrow here in my Chesco database is 100 set way back in 1899.

Here's the deal on the Philly 98 vs. 99 issue:

The one ob showing "99" is this one:

SPECI KPHL 212033Z 22015G20KT 10SM FEW055 37/22 A2977 RMK AO2 $

Note that special obs between the hourlies do NOT report temperature to the nearest degree Fahrenheit. They only report to the nearest degree Celsius. In this case, 37 degrees Celsius. There are two Fahrenheit temperatures which round to 37 degrees Celsius, 98 (36.7 Celsius) and 99 (37.2 Celsius). Since ASOS is continuously recording (but not reporting) in Fahrenheit, the temperature at the time of the 37C reading has to be either 36.7 or 37.2. However, a direct conversion of 37C is 98.6 degrees Fahrenheit.

In other words, its rounding error from converting the ASOS measurement (made in Fahrenheit) into Celsius for data transmission, and then converting it back to Fahrenheit.

Bottom line, the correct high today thru 5PM is 98 degrees.

I thought today felt worse than last year's heat. Anyone agree? It was a complete sauna out there. Hard to be out even.

Yup, higher dewpoints compared to last year. Lets see what tomorrow has instore. PTW hit 104 last year....not sure it gets that high, but there is a chance.
