CAD_Wedge_NC
So do ya guys think we need a seperate thread for soon to be TS Bret and possible SE impact or should we keep it all in this thread? There is a thread on the main page but would be nice to have one in here as well to keep from cluttering up the main forum thread.... Last time I checked it was just an invest with only a 40% chance of development. This thing has potential.

Its TD2 now recon has found 44knt FL winds but looks like they are only going TD2 http://www.nhc.noaa....-daynl#contents Gonna be interesting if the Bermuda high is stronger or the monster ridge over the plains weakens this thing might be a player for the Carolina coast..... UNCCmetgrad
that would be the hottest its got all year here, Or tied with it, and so far I don't see western NC all that hot yet. The ridge looks a smidge weaker this time compared with the other two heat waves, and if you look at the GFS , its once again overdoing the high temps, esp right around areas west of I-77. The ECMWF keep temps in the Apps and the western Carolnas and much of northern Ala and Ga in the upper 80s to low 90's during the heat wave, but upper 90's in eastern NC and north through eastern VA and I-95 next Thursday through Sunday. I'd take a blend, meaning mid 90's on the hottest days probably Thurs/Fri/Sat in your area, but there will be some convection around esp right around your area and the mtns again almost daily, so thats another reason i think western Carolinas will not get overly hot temps again, combined with much wetter grounds than out east. Its still 5 to 7 days away so theres time to change a little but thats how I think right now. On Tuesday, there might be good convective coverage in NC coming from the north, and after that is when the ridge builds in and maybe right over top, but it doesn't look stronger than anything we've had yet, and is probably slightly weaker than the other 2 major heat waves. Dewpoints look lower with this one slightly as well. But still plenty uncomfortable. It doesn't look to last very long if the GFS is right, and this ridge gets replaced with troughing again and probably a relative precip max in the Carolinas and Tenn Valley in the longer range. I'm a little surprised at how warm the NWS has for my area next weekend.(upper 90's) I'm thinking more in the area of your thinking with 94-96 degrees for that time span. Models keep backing off little by little on the strength of the ridge and with trends this year of backing off the heat in the shorter range I would think they would be more conservative. Perhaps they area falling in line with HPC's thinking as I see they have most areas from the piedmont of the Carolinas east from 99-102 degrees Thursday through Sunday. Not saying that won't happen I just want to see continuity into the day 2 and 3 forecast period.

Blue Ridge
It felt like an early September day. Too bad it probably won't be this nice again anytime soon You are beyond pessimistic. And beyond annoying. Highs for this week have been amped up a notch since I last checked the forecast. Mid nineties by Wednesday does not sound too appetizing... On a positive note, the chance of afternoon thunderstorms remains in play throughout the period. This sounds typical, but IMBY, I am well overdue for a whopper of a pop-up storm. DaculaWeather
FFC says they think the ridge will be weaker and they keep shaving high temps. They say it will be weak enough to still allow for afternoon thundershowers.
DaculaWeather
Wow, I just noticed that the dp in Fargo, ND is 80 !! Pretty impressive for that far north. I don't ever even remember an 80 dp here in GA. JimCantore Jim Cantore That's HOT! RT @nasanut25 3:45am in the Twin Cities, MN, and its 82F & with a 80F dewpoint, feels like its 93 AT ALMOST 4 IN THE MORNING! I had 80 degree DP's the other day! They say it will be weak enough to still allow for afternoon thundershowers. thats what I think as well. I think the upper 90's to near 100 will be from CAE to RDU and central/east VA to DC region on Thur/Fri/Sat, but mostly 88-95 west of there from CLT GSO GSP ATL. The ring of fire should send debris clouds south periodically and some showers/storms on Tues, Wed and Thurs afternoons, esp, in northern Alabama, Ga and central /western Carolinas. kanc2001
We could really use a visit from TS Bret here on the SC coast to get some much needed rain, Severe Drought here. But alas think this one is for the fishes....

shaggy
We could really use a visit from TS Bret here on the SC coast to get some much needed rain, Severe Drought here. But alas think this one is for the fishes.... We really need him to come ashore. The next week is going to throw us much deeper into the drought if we don't see any rain Tuesday evening. After the 2 inches of rain I had a couple weeks ago everything greened back up a bit but now you can't even tell it rained. Bret would be a welcomed sight right now! DaculaWeather
OK, purely selfish reason for this post... I've added a Google +1 button to my website. If you are so inclined (and like my website!), would you take a moment to click on the +1 button? It's at the top of the main page. Thanks guys! Solak
Shaggy - remember those pictures of the dead/dying corn fields you posted last summer? That's what our corn looks like over this way. Two/three feet tall, tassled out, and yellow/brown.
DaculaWeather
Went out to cut some shrubs a little while ago and it's too friggin' hot for that right now! My heat index is 92 but the angle of the sun is brutal. I'm waiting on some clouds just to my south so I can try again. I don't mind the heat as much as the sun AND the heat. Maybe that will be my drought picture this year. We better get some rain tomorrow because after that its back into the oven with no rain chances. BullCityWx
Speaking of corn, it looks the healthiest it has been here since 03 or 04. Bright green stalks and most of it already over 5 ft tall.

Same here. Theres a corn field I ride past every week on the way to my parents, and every year by mid to late June its withered and dead totally. This year its the tallest and best looking I've seen since I'd say 2005. I've always wanted to stop and ask the person who plants it why he bothers, atleast up until this year, b/c like clockwork, around mid June, it was always gone. A total waste of time and effort. For 5 years running.

jrips27
Just arrived home from Panama City Beach. Sounds like I missed some cooler weather. Must have felt amazing! We did have quite a bit of rain down there in PCB, but I'm not totally sure how much. Just had a quick shower that dropped .11" in the bucket. My total since Thursday morning is .42". Glad to be back!
