Looks like the probability of severe is small but there could be some stronger storms moving through later today with low pressure passing to our northwest. The HRRR has numerous storms moving through later today.

I def agree that there is a legitimate threat for strong thunderstorms today, but as far as the severe storms we could get a few but I don't think were gonna slammed today with them.....winds look to be the real threat today with the storms

Slight risk to our west now

..MID ATLANTIC AND SERN ATLANTIC STATES

SATELLITE-DERIVED PW IMAGERY AND GPS PW DATA INDICATE THE PRESENCE

OF A VERY MOIST AIR MASS IN PLACE E OF THE APPALACHIANS. AND WHILE

MIDLEVEL LAPSE RATES ARE WEAKER THAN POINTS TO THE SW/W...ABUNDANT

SUNSHINE SHOULD SUPPORT RAPID BOUNDARY LAYER WARMING WITH A

RESULTANT STEEPENING OF LOW-LEVEL LAPSE RATES AND MLCAPE INCREASING

TO 1500-3000 J/KG. WEAK MIDLEVEL HEIGHT FALLS COMBINED WITH HEATING

ALONG THE HIGH TERRAIN AND CONVERGENCE ALONG LEE TROUGH AND

DEVELOPING SEA BREEZE CIRCULATIONS WILL FOSTER NUMEROUS TSTMS THIS

AFTERNOON. STORMS WILL LIKELY CONGEAL INTO MULTIPLE CLUSTERS WITH

THE POTENTIAL FOR DAMAGING WET MICROBURSTS THROUGH THIS EVENING.

Not sure if I'm gonna ask this correctly though but does today actually give coastal areas a chance at some severe weather according to this statement?

It's hardly even a "go time" two small cells on Long Island, one small line in PA thats dying and a couple of other small cells in S.NJ

Wow some big boomers hitting here now with pounding rain and lots of lightning.

I guess you haven't noticed how much lightning is with these cells, lol. Constant lightning down here with the cells in SJ, and going off lightning data, a ton up there too.
